T'was a Sunny Sunday...........

............................. so as usual I was up and out early to a car boot sale.
Once again I  could have easily stocked a dozen playrooms for a dozen grandchildren but decided against and came home with a brand new fitted sheet for £1, card making bits for £2 and a bottle of "bubble stuff" for 25p.

Colin wore himself out transplanting a few lettuce seedlings from under the plastic cloche tunnel into the salad barrels . It's frightening how little energy he has.
After the boot sale I still had plenty of time to make a Sunday lunch for us, A, our youngest, and B her OH and of course their gorgeous Florence.
Poor Florence had had a cold all last week which is on it's way out but leaving her a bit clogged up in her throat and not very happy. Even blowing bubbles for her and then a go on the swing didn't cheer her up for long and she just wanted to chew everything rather than play............teeth on the way I guess.

While the family were here we got B to cut down a dead willow in the lane opposite the house. It had been coppiced at some time so no thick branches. He moved the cut down stuff  to near the workshop where I'll sort it into large bits that will need more chainsaw cutting, small bits I can do with the loppers, some bits for pea sticks and the thinnest twiggy bits for the bonfire heap.

After our visitors had headed home Col found a place to sit out sheltered from sun and wind and I finished reading another library book.

If only all Sundays were Sun Days it  would be lovely.

Back Shortly
Sue

  1. I expect Col was delighted to be home, however temporarily, and at least must have enjoyed pottering, though it exhausted him.

You were very frugal with your car boot bargains. We of course, go looking for stock, but we get other bits and bobs we need (and in the case of books, don't strictly "need"!

  3. Slowly Col's strength will return, and he is in the best place now for that to begin. Lovely photo of you and Florence, hope she's over her cold soon, poor thing.

    1. He'll be back in hospital sometime this week for the tablets to start again. I think it will be a long while before he gets the chance to recover properly

  4. Praying Col will go from strength to strength. It must be great for him to have time at home though and participate with things despite them being draining. I haven't been to any car boots yet, must get up earlier😁

  6. The car boot sale we were going to be selling at was rained off on Saturday ... if only it had been on Sunday!

I'm glad you had a nice family Sunday and that Colin felt at least well enough to plant the lettuces. It's lovely days like this that he needs when he escapes the confines of the stuffy hospital wards. You must be so pleased that you have moved out of town and back into the clean fresh air of the countryside.

  7. Florence is more adorable each month. So glad to hear Col finally got to come home from hospital for a few days, even if he's deeply fatigued. Being home is so much more comfortable. Can I just say... you both are holding up amazingly to all of the stress of his illness.

We had a lovely Sunday, too. A pair of mourning doves had nested above our back patio at our new home. The baby birds fledged on Sunday. It was so sweet to watch the parents looking out for them and encouraging them. Even more sweet when the 1st to take wing returned to stay with its sibling until that one could take flight. Just beautiful!

  8. You even matched your specs to little Florence's dress - lovely photograph.
I bet Colin enjoyed getting his hands stuck into some good earth even though it wore him out. I hope the next round of tablets goes well. Very best wishes from Lincolnshire.

  11. Hi Sue - I keep coming over to your delightful blog but not sure I have left a comment before. What a beautiful granddaughter - she has the same name as my younger daughter. Sorry to hear about your OH and his illness - I hope he continues to be able to do a few things before the tiredness kicks in. I had cancer a few years ago and the tiredness is the thing I remember most. Sending you best wishes. Viv
