That Woman has been Spending at Boot Sales Again!

Yep, 'fraid so.

Midweek car boot on the way to elsewhere

Christmas tissue paper 50p. Kirstie Allsop's Christmas craftbook 50p and a new bright pink hat for me £2.
My warmest lined Thinsulate hat went missing somewhere last winter leaving me with two thin hats, this is a lined one - have to be careful in cold winds or my ears start humming - which is not nice. Not sure about the bobble!

Many Thanks for comments about simple cleaning. Seems lots of people don't like the strong smell of detergents, I suppose somebody must be buying them!

  1. Love the hat. Of course you must have a bobble. You will be easy to spot in a crowd. X

  4. Me for one Sue - afraid I love the smell of detergents - makes me think things are spotlessly clean (probably wrongly)

    1. I can't cope with strong smells like candles, detergent, air fresheners etc. Some give me a big headache

  5. Nothing to do with this post (love the hat, by the way - complete with bobble!), but I just wanted to say I made marmalade following your Mamade Lemon and Grapefruit recipe yesterday. I used a tin of thick cut orange, which had been at the back of the cupboard for probably a couple of years, and a tin of grapefruit in juice. The marmalade is gorgeous, husband says it's the best one he's tasted. So thanks for that.

  6. You could always chop the bobble off! Thanks for the advice on detergents. I too am a smell hater. Am off back to Ecover.

    1. It's rather too well affixed to cut off, as Catriona says above I shall embrace it!

  7. I have a Thinsulate hat and wouldn't be without it. Your new one looks cosy.

Going back to smelly washing powders etc - it's the fabric softener "perfumes" which drive me mad. HORRID stuff - haven't used it for 35 years. The smell of that lingers and makes me fill ill. "Smells of fresh air", does it heck! Anything but.

    1. I have problems visiting people who burn candles, some of the smells are just so strong and as for plug in air fresheners - yuck

  9. The woolly hat will keep you snug in deepest Suffolk, where the wind comes right off the north sea! I'm thinking I might have one this year, but I've never worn a woolly hat like that, but I do wear a very old faux fur hat, really old granny style hat, or as a friend once said, it was like the hat worn by the chap in the painting of the Arnolfini Wedding!

  11. A while ago I started making all my own washing powder, then stopped and really noticed the strong smell of commercial detergent...sorry to say with working full time and some I do buy boxes of it again now...but one day when life calms down I'll go back to homemade. x
