It was a frosty morning on Saturday for the car boot sale but nice and dry and sunny, it was good to be out early. I didn't walk all the way round this week as my back was telling me I've not done any back exercises lately.
All I spent was £1. The pack of dishcloths and pack of Christmas serviettes were both from the same house clearance man and cost me 50p. The book was 50p and is another to add to my collection of country poetry.
I noticed diesel at the Co-op garage as I passed on my way back from the boot sale at £1.57 a litre and on Sunday when I went over to the coast another petrol station had it at £1.66. It was around £1.37 - £1.43 ish a couple of weeks ago so has gone up but not by the amount that heating oil has shot up. Government are going to help with heating oil costs for the most vulnerable - that's doesn't include me, I'll just be hoping for prices to drop before I need to fill up again in September.
Back Tomorrow

Good finds. I won’t get help either for oil, heating switched off to conserve what I have, it’s a bit chilly so plenty of layers and a heated throw for the evenings. Can’t afford to heat or eat! Sandra.
ReplyDeleteI am careful with the central heating. On warmer days (hah, the dizzy heights of 10 deg this morning) it doesn't go on until late afternoon. I'm out today so it will be off whilst I'm out. Diesel is the same price here.
ReplyDeleteI have cut up old cotton polo shirts for dish cloths and have a useful pot of small rags cut from old cotton socks. They are so useful, and save on kitchen roll. They can go in the compost eventually.
ReplyDeleteThat was £1 spent very well. Fuel is going up here with every delivery to the garage, we make sure that we always have a full tank when we travel as on the motorway it is a LOT more expensive. Heating oil has taken the brunt of the rises though hasn't it.
ReplyDeleteGas prices climbing here because of the idiot we have as president.
ReplyDeleteYes, we are hoping for a drop in oil prices by September 🤞
ReplyDeleteNice little haul from the car boot.

Filled the hybrid car this morning and was shocked at the difference in price. I shudder to think what it will be like when the van gets topped up with diesel.Catriona
ReplyDeleteYesterday in Massachusetts, I paid $3.59.9 per gallon of gas. Before the conflict/war, gas was $2.65 per gallon. I am hearing in California gas is $5 a gallon.
ReplyDeleteYou found several useful/quality items at the sale. If this seller is a regular at the sales, I'd look for him again.
Highly unlikely we will get help with heating oil. No surprise there.
ReplyDeleteVery good buys at the boot sale, Christmassy paper napkins are surprisingly expensive.

A lot can happen between now and your next top-up. I'm glad your boot sale was successful - cold and bright is bearable.
