Last week I had a random text message from son " Have you tried the Stratford Blue cheese from Aldi?"
I hadn't but as I was going shopping in Aldi it had to be tried. I think it's new to Aldi as I'd not seen it before.
Stratford Blue is another cheese made by Butlers Farmhouse Cheeses in Lancashire........ A soft and creamy blue cheese.
Something of a dark horse (not literally!), Stratford Blue is really delicate, really creamy and perfectly rich. The blue bite develops with warmth but soon mellows in a sea of creaminess making our Stratford Blue cheese truly unique and unbelievably moreish.
A dreamy blue cheese, smooth in texture and with a distinctive taste.
Using traditional handmade methods, our Stratford Blue cheese it is crafted in open vats, then poured into individual moulds, turned by hand and matured under the watchful eyes of our cheese experts.
There is no escaping it, we are a family business. That’s what makes things exciting, and these family values are the bedrock of our culture. Richard and Annie started it, Jean and Tom nurtured it. Gill and Colin opened it, and the history page is just turning for Matthew and Danie
After trying it I texted back to son " It's nice, but I think I prefer Shropshire Blue" .
He said ๐!
We're not great conversationalists in our family!

I shall look out for it
ReplyDeleteThat sounds worth a try. We like creamy blue cheeses.

this made me chuckle, we shop in Aldi, in Lancashire, have we spotted that cheese? No!
ReplyDeleteAt least you got to try something new in the cheese line. You made me laugh with your comment on your "chatty" family!!
ReplyDeleteI’ll look out for that cheese as it would be excellent in my home made broccoli soup. Thanks for sharing. Catriona
ReplyDeleteI like the Lancashire Cranberry Wensleydale cheese which is my favourite at the moment. The one we get from Morrison's is called Granberry (so it must be the right cheese for me) obviously someone got the wording wrong ;)
ReplyDeleteStratford Blue was the very well maintained, local bus company at Stratford upon Avon. The livery was blue and cream.
ReplyDeleteI like a creamy blue cheese, not so keen on Stilton, too much of a good thing ๐

Your son sounds like mine. Not wordy!

ReplyDeleteTexts are so handy to keep in touch with family far away. Just a quick message or a sweet hear emoji to let them know I am thinking about them!
ReplyDelete*heart! not hear...
DeleteSuccinct communication - excellent.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy blue cheeses so will find someone to fetch me some. I do like the Butler's Blacksticks Blue, and the Shropshire Blue too.
ReplyDeleteI love Shropshire Blue and used to have a cat that loved it as well. He didn’t mind Stilton, wouldn’t touch Danish Blue but went crazy for Shropshire Blue.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a fan of blue cheese but family members are very much so. I'll look for these options and buy some if it is available in the US.
ReplyDeleteI just stocked up on 8 oz. steak burgers and blue cheese is a favorite on these burgers. Thanks for the recommendations.
That sounds like the sort of text message conversation I have with my son too. He's a man of few words!
ReplyDeleteNot a fan of blue cheese either, Sue.
Angie
My goodness, that is more than likely exactly what our youngest would text back to me.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Lol. It's always nice to have that sort of conversation with a 'child'. Makes me feel happy that we can communicate like that with not many words and they send me texts thinking of me and just because!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter and I can do that about books - unfortunately lactose intolerance is genetic in my family, which is terrible because blue cheese is all kinds of wonderful
