These were on the side bar when I was looking at Colette's Bealtaine Cottage site.
Is this what they call Doom Scrolling?

I like this one as it says Peanut Butter is the perfect food to store for an emergency - well I can agree with that one!
I said I was short of ideas for blog posts!!
I expect I'll be better tomorrow 😄
I'll be a goner - I rely on a handful drugs to keep me going, and a 4 weekly hospital infusion!!
ReplyDeleteOh dear - there's no hope for most of us!
DeleteWe’ve experienced 48 hours without water and separately 48 hours without electricity and gas. Both were a shock !! The Preppers video does at least give a guide to some foods we can all store for emergencies. Thanks !!

It's the first prepper thing I've come across that mentions peanut butter!
DeleteOur electricity goes out quite often and it has on a couple of occasions been out for a week. Being reliant on tank water and a pump, no power means no water or sewerage. I keep bottles of drinking water in the pantry and have a 30 litre drum in the linen cupboard for handwashing and the like. We also have a creek we can get water from for toilet flushing. It's ok for a day or so, but we tend to just go away if it looks as though it will be out for a while. We're getting a bit old to be lugging buckets of water from the creek for too long!
DeleteApparently when Jackie Kennedy was asked about 'prepping' , she said "I shall just go outside and stand on the White House and prepare to meet my Maker"
ReplyDeleteLiving withing 50 miles of a nuclear power station - most of Suffolk will be goners too!
DeleteI never click on these things, often they are full of wrongful information or just plain daft. As for peanut butter, I'm allergic to nuts, so it won't help me.
ReplyDeleteThere are some Very Strange people making this youtube stuff.
DeletePeanut butter? Bleugh!
ReplyDeleteI love it - maybe it's a love hate like marmite
DeleteLike Virginia, I'll be goner! So no need to worry about prepping then 😀 I can just get on with life.
ReplyDeleteYep - enjoy the moment!
DeleteWell, that's a cheerful way to start the week. No hope for me - I don't like peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteSorry - this is what happens when I'm short of ideas
DeleteEating a peanut butter sandwich as we speak!
ReplyDeleteThere was a young lassie who did a long solo rowing challenge a few years ago and her rowing boat was stuffed with jars and jars of PNB and she lived off those to fuel her efforts
I knew it was good for something!
DeleteI find most of them absolutely daft, but the clickbait headlines draw lots of people into watching and believing them don't they. The trouble is once you watch one or two they all start popping up on your suggested list.
ReplyDeleteI think I could quite happily survive for a while with Ritz crackers and peanut butter ... oh and I would need some Nescafe as well. ;-)
There are some very odd people making you tube videos - goodness knows where they get their information from
DeleteI think I could eat most things in an emergency and I quite like peanut butter. Those porridge oat sachets are quite a good idea for the Cupboard of Doom

A cupboard of doom sounds a frightening place to visit!
DeleteI've enjoyed reading The Eighths that you recommended some time back on my phone as I traveled to and from Greece. Haven't finished it yet.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are enjoying it. I hope she writes a follow up
DeleteI never click on stuff like that because then you start getting more of it. I don't need to live forever and I don't think I would want to survive in a terrible world. I've lived long enough.
ReplyDeleteSome of the rubbish on youtube is quite hilarious or very weird
DeleteThings are far from ideal in the world. That said, resorting to doomsday messaging is not the answer for me.
ReplyDeleteYesterday, I did a shop and found almond butter at $16 a pound. Unbelievable.
Goodness that is very expensive .
DeleteI'm glad I'm not forced to watch or read some the very weird things on youtube.
Car boot suggestion - when sellers attend car boots, buyers can surround and pester you before you have set up, they can be quite unpleasant. What can be done is just lock the car and walk away, you can come back 15 mins later and they have moved on to pester someone else and you can set up without interruption.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I've done lots of boot sales over the years - not worried about the dealers.
DeleteI’m with Jackie Kennedy! Catriona
ReplyDeleteSounds like a plan!
DeleteWell, I'm not watching those. My take on doomsday is that when it arrives, we'll all be in a pickle that is far larger than anything we can plan for. I mean, how much peanut butter can a person stockpile? LOL! I'm just going to cross that bridge when (if) I come to it, as the saying goes.
ReplyDeleteThere will be people getting buried after opening the doors of the cupboards full of food they've stored and being hit on the head by a jar of peanut butter!
DeleteI take iit one day at a time anyway (or try really hard to) because tomorrow is never promised. I watered my babies real good today. So far, I have gotten 3 baby cherry tomatoes, the watermelos are looking good. Green beans and jalapeno peppers are doing great and marigolds are popping. I have about a 4 x 4 area only so just a trial garden this year, but amazon did have some of thos aluminum beds on sales yesterday and I snagged one so hoping to put zukes and yellow squash in there. Might bo too late, but better to try than not.
ReplyDeleteYes. That is doom scrolling. I think we would all be wise to stop and consider these things. But some of these youtubers are making these videos and claiming that attack is imminent. The attackers vary: the liberals are planning a violent take over. Others claim it is the Christian Nationalists. Some claim it is our own government planning to quash anyone who dares speak out. Others claim foreign governments. The thing is no one knows for sure what is going to happen next. It is wise to be prepared. But all the dramatic pronouncements and predictions drive me crazy. Unfortunately. Tim listens to a lot of these reels and he believes them all. Even if the conflict. His stroke seems to have stripped away some of his ability to think critically.
ReplyDeleteOh my. Gloom and doom for sure. If worse comes to worse, I think I would be like Jackie Kennedy said and just go out to meet my maker.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
