The First Art Show of the Year

I always go and look at the Annual Easter Art Exhibition at Needham Market Community Centre.

I'm afraid I didn't buy a catalogue so can't name the artists or the prices, which I'll probably get told-off about! Apologies.

Just a few photos of some of the paintings I liked.

Runner Ducks

Three tree paintings by two different artists

Bird lino cuts by Norfolk artist Deborah Key, she exhibits at all the local Art Exhibitions. I have two of her pictures on my 'art wall'

I'm not usually a fan of plant paintings but this one below of Chinese Lanterns is very colourful

General views

These below are quite unusual and fun, all things that can be seen in Suffolk

As usual Helen Maxfield was showing her lino cut prints, she tends to use a different main colour each year. 5 out of the 6 below are hers, the fox is by someone else

Aldeburgh Beach - a very popular subject for Suffolk painters

And Southwold beach too

There were also lots of unframed pictures and greetings cards but nothing appealed this year.

  1. What gifted artists. That last one reminds me of "The Shell Seekers". I read Rosamund Pilcher's book when it came out in 1987. But I am afraid I cannot remember the story at all, just that there was a painting of children on the beach! I do like the lino cuts. Thanks for sharing these (preparing blogposts with lots of pictures is time consuming)

    1. I love to go and look at all talented artist we have - and wish I could paint!
To load photos to the blog I just plug in the camera, click computer and they upload to google photos. Then it's just click on them and insert in the blog. Takes seconds!

  2. I like the lino prints, but the fox isn't displayed to its best advantage I don't think. The gannet lino print I like too, and the tree painting just above that first lino print group.

    1. I got the impression that they had so many entries and had just shown them any-old how. Usually there's something I think I would love to buy given limitless money and wall space, but this year nothing really wanted to go home with me.

  7. What a lovely exhibition, some very talented artists there. I am having to sell off a few of my arty bits bought from all sorts of places, as we just won't have enough space on the walls at the bungalow and we want it to look nice and simple. It's hard to choose what has to go.

  10. The 4th photo down has captured the atmosphere os a coldand so very wet and miserable winter's day - made me hunch my shoulders to look at it. I'm not sure if I would want to look at it on a regular basis for that reason though :)

I love the Helen Maxfield lino prints.and Deborah Keys' work too. Thank you for sharing with us.
