I Was Duped .....................

I picked this craft box of card making bits at a boot sale a few weeks ago and when the lady selling said she wanted £10 for it I quickly put it down again.

Then last weekend I saw it again and asked the price and got it for £5. I thought £5 for the makings of 24 cards wasn't too bad and they looked quite unusual to make. The lady said it was new - never been opened and it was certainly sealed and looked new.

You can guess what I'm going to say..........BUT when I got  home and found a way into the box, I discovered it HAD been opened and the only things inside were three lots of different sized card blanks and envelopes - six of each and some coloured paper and card. There should have been a whole lot more - I'm so cross with myself.

I wasn't even meant to be buying anymore card making bits anyway!

Ho Hum!

  1. I always wonder...did the seller know?

  2. If it was at a Boot Fair, she probably did. It is frustrating to buy something in a sealed box at a Fair or Charity Shop and get home to find it is unusable.
I was quite excited to find some fancy Martha Stewart punches in a CS, then realised they were the two-part ones, totally useless without their bases. I pointed it out to the assistant, who promptly removed them from sale.
But WHY do people knowingly try to sell us useless stuff? You are an honest person Sue, and would never do that - but don't blame yourself by saying "I'm not meant to be buying cardstuff anyway" The guilt is hers, not yours...

  3. So much for '195 elements' displayed on the box. Pah! I say. And double Pah!
    What an... irritation!

  4. That is extremely annoying. I suppose the only consolation is that you didn't stump up £10 for it when you first saw it.

  5. That is so aggravating. I'd point it out to her if you see her again.

  6. That is to bad. The only good thing is you didn’t buy it for its original price. I still remember my parents buying a second hand bike and by the time we got home both tyres were flat—they’d been pumped up quickly to sell.Jean/Winnipeg

  8. I think we have all fell for something similar in the past. Thank goodness it doesn't happen too often.

  10. This type of thing happens occasionally to me as well.
A few weeks ago, I replaced my garage door openers and just yesterday I discovered the contractor left the two old mechanisms in the side yard. For the price I paid, he should have taken all the old stuff away!

  12. Oh, that's a shame. Maybe she wasn't aware it had been opened. She may have bought it at a boot sale herself and not checked the contents!

  13. I bought some fabric at a garage sale. It was neatly folded up but I did open it half way. Got it home and when I opened it fully there was a quarter of it missing. I felt cheated and of course annoyed with myself.
