Another Bundle of Someone's Leftovers!

I fished these things out of the boxes of one of the house clearance people who were at the nearest car-boot sale on Sunday - they are always at Needham Market but not often at Stonham.

There are two packs of small freezer/sandwich bags - handy for keeping things like an opened pack of cheese in the fridge. Two part used packs of scourers and a new and sealed box of 100 Twinings Breakfast Teabags. I paid £2.50 for the lot.

All useful although I've gone right off tea while the weather is so hot......I'm OK with coffee (and lots of water). It's a good thing teabags keep for years because this is the second lot I've found this year and I already had a big box in the cupboard.

The only Brits playing yesterday at Wimbledon were in the Men's Doubles. I watched Dan Evans and Henry Searle  lose and but missed the other pair winning then saw Sinner win although I wouldn't say he won comprehensively. Decided to be patriotic and watch football instead, except England were so bad I gave up at 70 minutes and went back to tennis. Then I heard huge shouts and cheers from somewhere in the houses behind me and knew England had scored and then again a few minutes later - a win then................ eventually. I see they play Mexico at 1am our time next Monday, actually in altitude in Mexico City - it will be deafening and England have no chance!
Back to tennis and geared myself up to watch moany Djokovic play in the hope he would be beaten by the Greek Tsitsipas.............He wasn't.

My latest Pet Hate (and there are many!) is the interviewer after the matches saying "sum up your emotions!" .....Every.........Single........Time.......Grrrrr.

  1. I really hate when they say “ Indeed” particularly after every sentence in Countdown Helen

    1. Politicians who start every sentence with "Look...." is another annoying one

  2. So I was not the only one cheering for Tsitsipas, at least Djokovic played tennis without his usual antics, I think the BBC milk the players to much, I much prefer them to be interviewed sat down giving them a bit if time to digest their victory.

    1. Maybe Djokovic is getting better behaved with age - he certainly still seems to have plenty of energy and skill.

  3. Leave the poor players alone, I say! Although it's nice to give them a chance to thank their family and team, say something nice about their opponent. But then let them go home!

    1. They often say that the players have to spend an age doing media interviews after their matches - I bet some of them hate it

  4. I really hate the standard condolence statements which everyone who is interviewed on the news feels compelled to make every time there is a tragedy. "ALL our thoughts are with ----- at this difficult time". Really? I don't think so. It sounds so insincere and formulaic.

  5. I hate that everyone is “ on a journey “. Makes me shudder !
Lots of cheering on Centre early evening yesterday - and nothing to do with tennis !

  6. I was cheering for Tsitsipas also but had to go to bed after Sinners lack lustre start, so had to lookup results this morning.Daria Kasatkina is a Russian born player who now has Australian citizenship. She made it through yesterday but I think she now has to face Osaka. Australian tennis ain’t what it used to be! JennyP

    1. I'm sure there used to be so many Australian players back in the day when I would get home from school to watch (1960s)!

  7. Tennis for me too as I really enjoy watching the doubles especially. Good haul from the boot sale! Catriona

    1. Arthur Fery playing as I write this at 1.30, one of the few Brits left. I discovered there are lots of Brits in the mixed doubles, but they don't get much of a mention usually.

  8. Just how many journeys are these sports people on 😂
I certainly won’t stay up to watch the match against Mexico, don’t think they stand a chance but well done to them for winning last night…..

  9. Nice finds at the sale. Everything is useful and the price is amazing.
Funny how some words and phrases become over-used. Do the broadcasters/speakers even realize the overuse?

  10. Your post yesterday reminded me that I have mason jars to return to my brother and his wife so they can share their dill pickles with me again! :)

  11. Good, useful purchases. Don't you want someone to say, when asked to sum up their emotions, "I feel rage at your question!"

  12. England were SO bad in the first 20 mins or so that fans started booing! Then I think they had a b******ing from the boss and pulled their socks up a bit. I was watching at the request of my neighbours down the hill who don't have a tv so we all watched it together :)

YOu got good value for your £2.50. No-one selling that sort of house clearance at the car boot I went to at Madley on Sunday.

  13. What about putting one lot of teabags in a local charity shop - you'll be 101 before you use all you've got, and they DO go musty after a while.

  14. You have the most awesome bargains. Do you ever drink iced or chilled tea? We don't have ice up at the lake (unless we buy it) but there's always a pitcher of tea chilling in the fridge!

  15. I came here to ask the same as Jeanie. Iced tea is one of my favorite hot weather drinks. Good finds though.
