First I split the plant into four and pot each one up individually, then I take a few cuttings and like you put them into water.

I also take lots of Rosemary cuttings every year put these into water too, I love the smell of them on the kitchen windowsill.

Now you've reminded me that I left my current pot of basil on the kitchen window sill at home when I set off for the Van on Saturday. I doubt it will survive Alans inability to see a dying plant right in front of him!Sue https://www.blogger.com/profile/04947919568474743963noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-45957714452662902572020-07-07T03:34:54.108+01:002020-07-07T03:34:54.108+01:00I just love basil. I read about her in Ronald Blythe's Borderland (Vol three of his Wormingford Trilogy) - I have all his books - he is 98 now and still lives in Wormingford on the Essex border - he wrote for many years for The Church Times. I have no religious faith whatsoever but his knowledge of Nature and the quality of his writing make his books well worth reading. The Weaver of Grasshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13947971556343746883noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-39990362039162971812020-07-06T18:00:31.105+01:002020-07-06T18:00:31.105+01:00It usually works wellIt usually works wellSue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-82422247527094060322020-07-06T17:59:01.566+01:002020-07-06T17:59:01.566+01:00I'm sure it's not a new idea for you!I'm sure it's not a new idea for you!Sue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-79602011848924006232020-07-06T17:58:27.870+01:002020-07-06T17:58:27.870+01:00I don't know if it helped either but there was...I don't know if it helped either but there was always plenty of basil in the poly tunnelSue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-7110843289929546172020-07-06T17:56:54.709+01:002020-07-06T17:56:54.709+01:00Of course - I forgot about mint - that nearly alwa...Of course - I forgot about mint - that nearly always works in waterSue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-46100937259591280472020-07-06T17:55:27.728+01:002020-07-06T17:55:27.728+01:00I've been growing herbs to sell since the earl...I've been growing herbs to sell since the early 80's - so have tried all sorts of ways to do thingsSue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-70241437198269566702020-07-06T17:53:25.124+01:002020-07-06T17:53:25.124+01:00Give it a try and see what happensGive it a try and see what happensSue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-56776403731202657922020-07-06T17:52:26.192+01:002020-07-06T17:52:26.192+01:00I think the supermarket ones are sold before they ...I think the supermarket ones are sold before they have much rootSue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-52450006865120759872020-07-06T17:51:45.624+01:002020-07-06T17:51:45.624+01:00Hope this way works for youHope this way works for youSue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-84661118725247658522020-07-06T17:51:08.199+01:002020-07-06T17:51:08.199+01:00I found the large leaf sort didn't have much f...I found the large leaf sort didn't have much flavour, but that wouldn't matter if it had a fillingSue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-21901350125754925092020-07-06T17:50:16.794+01:002020-07-06T17:50:16.794+01:00She might like to see the roots appearing but it t...She might like to see the roots appearing but it takes a whileSue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-71317382840379804592020-07-06T17:49:20.728+01:002020-07-06T17:49:20.728+01:00I've never had such a bad failure before with ...I've never had such a bad failure before with basil, then I kept forgetting to buy a pot which has made it rather lateSue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-72385598593285625412020-07-06T17:48:10.411+01:002020-07-06T17:48:10.411+01:00I've only ever bought a pot of basil once befo...I've only ever bought a pot of basil once before and that had greenfly on it withing a week!Sue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-31225886299121839052020-07-06T17:47:16.324+01:002020-07-06T17:47:16.324+01:00I used to do it with sage as well when growing her...I used to do it with sage as well when growing herbs to sellSue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4787951981229151015.post-37499486001409341072020-07-06T17:46:43.836+01:002020-07-06T17:46:43.836+01:00I'm not keen on coriander eitherI'm not keen on coriander either Sue in Suffolkhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13166036914348424622noreply@blogger.com
