Instead, I have medium roast ground coffee (never dark roast). You don't need a posh machine, just a good filter cone. I was using filter papers inside a porcelain one, but now have a stainless steel one that doesn't need the paper. Even the Poundland coffee (in the red packet) is perfectly drinkable and (to me) has more flavour than instant. And only "£1 - obviously"! (Don't like the dark roast though.)<br />I drink decaf after about 2pm (so as not to be kept awake), and, to me, the best one is from Lidl, in a blue packet. I've tried all the supermarket own brands but none of them are as nice as the Nescafe ones. Aldi's own brand ones are 89p for a box of 10, rather than 8 (Nescafe used to be 10, until a couple of years ago when they quietly reduced them to 8 without saying anything, hoping nobody would notice - well I did!). So what I do is buy 2 Aldi boxes to 1 Nescafe box, open them all up and mix them together in a plastic tub, that cuts the cost quite a lot without affecting the taste very much.
