April's Financial Outlook

In April 2017 we were still spending out large amounts of hard saved cash on things to do with moving house. Mainly my range cooker!
We also had to have repairs done to both cars.

Hopefully this April will be less spendy...........although there might be a takeaway for my birthday.

The TV licence is due and we will have to have heating oil....... just 500lt if the price is still high (and then another lot later when the price goes down in the summer........ I hope it will go down in summer!). No other big bills are due this month.

I've got a £2.98 Asda Price Guarantee Voucher to use, best ever! I've been religiously checking this on-line after each shop there, just wish I'd known about it earlier.

Overall, April should be a reasonably thrifty month......did I say that about March?

Thank you to everyone for comments yesterday. We were surprised to be able to sell the beach hut so easily as I was expecting to advertise through an Estate Agent for months. It seemed the right thing to do and it's is one less thing to think about and look after.

Back Tomorrow
Sue

  1. One of the many positive things about not usually having takeaways as a matter of routine is that when we do splash out on one, it is a real treat and something to look forward to with pleasure, not just the norm. How it should be, I think.
I'm hoping for a thrifty month too, even if it hasn't started all that well. Fingers crossed for both of us!

  2. We have a local shop called COOK, they sell ready made meals from the freezer, we purchase their pies for our pie and mash saturday night treat. We noticed they also have a takeaway section. We will try some next time, no room in the freezer, we are quite happy to cook our own takeaway's, if the price and quality are right.

  3. Your timing was right time in deciding to sell the beach hut if you think about it. If you had gone down a week or so earlier there may not have been the note. He may have put a note in all the beach huts hoping someone would take him up on his offer, so if you had gone down a week or so later someone else may have sold theirs to him. If you hadn't gone down to clear it out and get it ready for sale you wouldn't have found the note. So, all in all, an ideal time. There is a name for it, but can't think of it off-hand.

    1. They said the note had been there for just 2 weeks but it had almost faded to unreadable because of the sea spray and rain so yes perfect timing

  4. Hopefully then, each month this year, will prove cheaper than last year. All adds to the pennies pot.

  6. Re your TV licence, I pay monthly at no extra cost. When you first start you pay for it in 6 payments and then after that 12 payments, I pay £12.56 each month. You may wish to look into it, I hope the paperwork at the council goes smoothly x

    1. I did, but because of the way HMRC allocated allowance between ESA and pension it didn't help so we will have to claim tax back after 5th April

  10. Afternoon Sue

(Whispering) - Hope it's a thrifty month for you!! :-)

Mind you, bills coming in, is like buses - they all come at once! :-(

Weather here at the moment - chucking it down with rain! Any more of the wet stuff and I shall need wellingtons to go to the wheelie bins!
    Oh well..

Hope weather is better in your neck of the woods.

    Best wishes

  11. Great news about the beach hut Sue. Glad you've not had to wait ages to find a buyer. As you say, you had some use out of it and at least it's one thing off your list now. Hope you had a lovely Easter weekend. Did you get to see the little ones? xx

  15. Can I ask what a TV license is? We don't have that here in Canada, though we do pay in order to get TV.

    God bless.

    1. We have to have a license to watch TV - it funds BBC TV and radio because they have no ads. Other channels get their funding through advertising.and private money and sponsorship.
We dont pay anything other than the licence although lots of people pay a huge amount for sport or film channels etc
