You know all those sayings about not doing a supermarket shop when you are hungry? Well perhaps it should be applied to me and car boot sales too. Although I always go early before breakfast, I'm not always living with just what will fit in my car.
After arriving last week at about 7.30 and finding it already very busy I made an effort to get up even earlier and strolled across the site to arrive well before 7.
Somehow all this lot was bought before breakfast and regretted afterwards!
A big fat Martha Stewart craft book, the bundle of peel-off labels and the picture of Stowmarket Market place were £1 each and the new tin of Derwent Inktense crayons were £2.
Actually only the picture was regretted, I thought it was an original water colour by someone I'd not heard of because it had a sticker on the back for Stowmarket Framing but it turns out to be a print by a now deceased artist called Martin Goode who has masses of prints for sale online, pictures of everywhere in the country.....extremely prolific..... and quite expensive. I think I'll take it out of its big frame and pop it in something smaller. I'd love to have a picture wall like John in Wales, small pictures gathered together rather than spread out around the walls.
When I get to my bungalow and get organised my office/crafting space will be at one end of my bedroom with a window looking out the front which, from previous experience, I'll feel more comfortable using. I've never enjoyed crafting when tucked away in a room upstairs. So maybe card-making will be a thing again - I didn't clear out everything.
I'm glad the whole two weeks weren't as noisy as yesterday, because there was a 'custom' car show on the showground, huge souped-up engines revving and loud music! Every Thursday evening through the summer they have a Motorcycle Meet which involves 50 - 100 loud bikes running through the village onto the showground and out again later. One reason the local people aren't quite as fond of the expansion of the Leisure and Retail park as the owners and visitors!
i went even earlier to avoid the crowds yesterday , managed to scoop a tray of last years lavender plants up for £3 , they look a tad motheaten but will leap on once in the ground .
ReplyDeletegood luck with the lavender, no rain here for weeks
DeleteNo car boot sales round here yet, BUT we did go to Malvern fleamarket. See my blog later.
ReplyDeleteYou got some good buys. I'd have gone for the Martha Stewart book. I see you're on the move again. Surely this purchase can't go on for much longer? It would have been almost quicker to start again when they first started procrastinating!
Should have known when i sold my house in 5 days that it wouldn't allbe plain sailing
DeleteDo let us know how you get on with the Inktense, and at £2 that was a steal. The Cardinal Rule for using the pencils is do not ever dip them in water or they will solidify and you cannot rescue them once that's happened. They are quite possibly my favourite medium.
ReplyDeletethank you, haven't tried them yet - my paper is in storage!
DeleteI think you've done extremely well with those purchases. They're all lovely and the book looks great!
ReplyDeletexx
the book is huge -loads of crafts to try
DeleteOh Sue...I really feel for you right now. Moving house is stressful enough at the best of times but to keep having to move from place to place must be rally tough. Sending lots of hugs and good wishes for a speedy resolution. xx
ReplyDeletegood thing i can fit everything i need into one ford fiesta!
DeleteThere are some good projects in the MS book. I reluctantly sold my copy to ziffit in January in the Great Book Purge.
ReplyDeleteIf i decide i'll never get round to making anything in the book i'll pass it on to you!
DeleteSome bargains Sue especially the crayons and look forward to seeing what you make from the book. I went to the post box on Sat. and noticed somebody was having a yard sale had a look found for a brand new packet of insoles for a few pennies I gave £2.0 for it was for cancer research and got to know a couple new people in the village.
ReplyDeleteYesterday my D took me to Tring garden center nice surprise my GS and GF turned up they were looking at houses to buy so it really was a nice weekend especially the weather was sunny but not to hot.
Hazel c uk 🌈🌈
what a treat to find an unexpected yard sale!
DeleteSo sorry to hear that nothing has been resolved re the house move yet. I wouldn't be as patient about it as you are Sue. How long can you have the holiday cottage for this time? You must be heartily sick of packing up and moving even a small amount of your stuff every few weeks 🙄
ReplyDeleteBargain boot sale finds. The picture looks very pretty.
I meant bungalow not cottage 🤔🙂
Deletethe solicitors are hoping for some movement soon - so am I
DeleteSome good buys, and I see your caravan was one of the older Willerbys, they are nice vans and last really well. But I guess with the now noisier park you will be glad to get back to the bungalow ... home from home.
ReplyDeletepity it was the custom car show rather than their antique fair - would have been quieter and i could have gone to look
DeleteOh, an antique fair right on your doorstep would have been wonderful ... but possibly expensive ;-)
DeleteSome good bargains there. I love John's art wall, too. It's nice to have pictures you love grouped together. Sorry you're on the move again, it's a shame it's not the final one! Hopefully, that will happen very, very soon and you can finally settle. xx
ReplyDeleteIt feels so long that I've nearly forgotten why I wanted to move in the first place!
DeleteI am utterley staggered by your patience over this house move Sue.
ReplyDeleteI have no choice really - it will happen in the end
DeleteThese little splurges are good for the soul once in a while and besides it makes me feel a whole heap better as I had a much bigger spend last week! Arilx
ReplyDeleteI hope your move back to the bungalow has gone well. You found some real bargains at the sale and it also gave you an enjoyable time out. I like John's art wall as well. That is a fun thing to plan for in your new home.
ReplyDeleteBoot sales sounds like fun. And I never truly regret any craft purchase either. At those prices, it counts as reasonable entertainment if nothing else. Are you feeling like quite the vagabond moving place so often while waiting for home to ready? I would think that the adventure part of it would wear away as the hassle part of it continues, but you seem to be in good humor about it. So good for you!
ReplyDeleteNice items you got at the car boot sale. Sometimes I buy items I should have left on spot. Nice picture though. I remember being in Stowmarket. I think we were there for a festival. With friends. I remember taking photos of chimneys on buildings. So different from USA but I enjoyed seeing them. In the US caravan you stayed in is called a mobile home. Have a good week and get into your bungalow soon with no more moving. Hugs and prayers. 🌷🌈🙏
ReplyDeleteLovely finds at the boot sale. Those Derwent are quite expensive new! You got a really good deal there. Hope the transition back to the bungalow goes okay.
