and even further back in 1945 at the end of WWII.
This year the dates are 18th for second class and 21st for first class and you are way too late for Australia and New Zealand!

I've just fired off two late cards to people we thought we were going to see to hand over to but now will not, but I put first class stamps on so I should be fine.
ReplyDeleteThe two posters from years apart are actually very similar aren't they ... but then they are both sure to have post-boxes on aren't they, what am I on about!!
I go with the online cards .. they definitely do not have the same impact as paper cards but my hands prefer typing to writing these days.
ReplyDeleteThe PO are under particular pressure this year - the mad panic ordering of LFT and the shortage of staff due to covid has really piled the work on to them, our village postie seems to be walking extra fast these days!
ReplyDeleteI came to the conclusion yesterday that it would be nice if Royal Mail helped the public by emptying the post box before it became so full it was impossible to put anything else in. I had to go back in the evening after it had been emptied. It sounded half-full already.
ReplyDeleteChristmas has always been very busy at the Post Office. This year I tried to send cards early and the only ones that have been received are my neighbors. Nobody overseas has received my card. My UK relatives have sent me cards and nothing has arrived yet.
