I did wonder if they would need varnishing - and have a piece laid outside to see what happens to it- so thank you for the info, I shall add varnish to my shopping list.
They look wonderful, and will be great as gifts given with a packet of seeds to match the label. Spray varnish would be good for finishing them off too. It's so quick to use for fiddly little things with a few sides.
This is such a thoughtful and original gift idea! It's the kind of thing I would never make or buy for myself, but would be thrilled to bits to receive as a present :)
They're just delightful! I'd especially love to see some boot polish or similar rubbed in & off after you've sealed them to really bring out those letters...
