If I want to receive any Christmas Cards this year (and I Love getting Christmas cards) I'd better send out my cards early with my new address.
I've made a start.....................
......................... getting them out of the Christmas drawer in the craft-half of the bedroom and bringing through to the dining table.
(Didn't need to buy any new this year as they were either left from last year, bought in the January sales or from boot sales through the summer.)
Although not this morning as there's a coffee morning in the next but one village in aid of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. Someone came round to the bungalow with poppies a couple of weeks ago, that's the first time since 1992 when we lived in the next but one village. I shall pop over for coffee and cake and see who's there, bound to be someone I know.

DeleteI am trying to avoid thinking about it, but I don't think I shall be sending many cards this year, and no overseas ones. When it costs £2.50 to send a card to New Zealand, and takes weeks to get there even by Air Mail, a halt has to be called.

DeletePeople will have no idea where to send my cards to this year, what with moving from the Van to the flat and out of our Welsh house ... I'll be lucky to get any if I don't get a move on as well.
ReplyDeleteI have as usual bought lots of poppies, as soon as I buy Alan one for his suit he wears his other suit and needs one for that or needs one on his jackets for dog walking or for best. But this is one charity that we always donate to for obvious reasons. Enjoy your coffee morning.

DeleteI made 10 cards a few weeks for direct family and yesterday I sorted the others (have not written them yet). Last Thursday we had a coffee morning when the RBL came for a talk so I got my poppy then, some of the ladies at Knit & Natter made Lots poppies but I like the orginal poppies,
ReplyDeleteI remember years ago at WI we had an outing to the Poppy factory at Richmond when I was 70 my S and D took me to France to see my Grand-dad grave a very special weekend.

DeleteI nearly sent a Christmas card to you last year but 'chickened' out at the last minute. If I'd known you like receiving Christmas cards it would have been sent.
ReplyDeleteI only buy a pack of six or ten cards evey year as I make my own and the pack is in case I don't have enough. They will be written after we've celebrated my eldest Grand-daughter's birthday at the end of November.

DeleteI love christmas cards and when my daughter was home we would put them in the middle of the dinner table to open while we ate. It was nice to see them and remember the people who sent them. Sadly now not many people send christmas cards

DeleteI've made my cards for this year, printed out the labels, and bought the Christmas postage stamps. Now I need an inside message which Dan has tried his hand at. He's the poet in the family. His first attempt was not Christmas-y enough. I'm going to send it back to him to try again.
ReplyDeleteYou made great start! If you don't see them setting out you won't do them. Our Thanksgiving is coming up in a couple of weeks and I will do my cards after that. I don't send out as many as I used to as most of my family is gone now.

I've bought cards and need to start getting them in the mail. I heard there will be problems sending and receiving cards. Last year my UK cards took 2 weeks in the mail. My NYC cards took a 1-2 months. At least everything arrived eventually.
ReplyDeleteI bought Christmas cards last year when on sale. I'm sending mine out 1st of December. Not sure how long it will take to arrive due to less workers, etc.
ReplyDeleteI haven't started thinking about cards yet. Sorting through two relatives homes this year though I have realised how much people do appreciate them and keep them. Both Mum and Aunt Jane kept most of the cards they received. So even though I'm not really feeling the season I shall try to send cards and write in them just to let someone else know that I'm thinking about them and I appreciate having them in my life.
