The little cross stitch sampler is coming along slowly, I'm only doing it now and again and still a few rows
of stitching to do as I work my way up, still making it up as I go along with
ideas from my chart stash.

Today I want to do a trip out for some more of the church visits from the book '100 Treasures in 100 Suffolk churches'. It's almost 18 months since my last one. I'm now having to go a bit further afield so hope the churches are all open again. Soon I'll need to travel even further if the other 50 still to visit are to be done.
I also want to be back in time to see the men's semi finals from Wimbledon.....better get a wriggle on.

DeleteIt's really pretty, Sue. I do miss my cross stitch so much. Hope you get to do your visit, and I'm sure you'll call ahead. Our cathedral was closed today in the midst of everything for a royal visit. You never know when something will be closed for the unexpected.

DeleteThere are over 600 churches in Suffolk so I decided just to visit the ones mentioned in the little book I found not long before Colin died. We did 2 or 3 together then he was too ill.
What a great idea to go see the treasures mentioned in the book you found! Gives you lots of outings to look forward to.

I used to do X stitch all the time, making cards to sell but went off it although I still have all the threads etc so it makes a change.
DeleteI've a special fondness for X stitch; my sister used to make lovely gifts of thread-and-needle-art when her children were tiny. Some pieces took her months to finish. I've started a collection of pieces to go with her gifts to me, purchasing framed X stitch at antique stores and thrift shops when I see something I know took many loving hours to create. Yours is all the lovelier because it's a pattern you've designed.
ReplyDeleteI would love to find an antique sampler - but they tend to be very expensive. Well done to your sister for doing pictures that took months to do - I just don't have that patience

I do hope it is open, and that the light is good enough for you to be able to get good shots. I have enjoyed the bits of Wimbledon I’ve managed to catch ( sick granddaughter to care for 🙄 so time was not my own!) and my husband has been getting up very early to catch all the football World Cup games. I’d usually be backing England, but after that laser incident I won’t be sorry if they loose! Aren’t some people idiots!
