The changes in my bedroom meant getting rid of the horrible light fittings (5 bulbs on each of two fittings but all on one switch ) and replacing with just two simple pendant bulbs - very old fashioned now apparently. Not that I care.
So I needed 2 lampshades and I found one at the boot sale at the beginning of October for 50p and at the same sale I bought the 2 packs of the 'sticky clicky' picture fixings also for 50p which is at least £2 cheaper than their real price..
Only one problem................the fixing in the middle of the lampshade is too big for the hanging pendant so I wasted 50p.
It's gone to a charity shop.

What a shame - it looks like a lovely fixture! Hope you find what you need soon.
ReplyDeleteOh no! I just purchased 2 lampshades for my old lamps that I up-cycled. Spent more for the lampshades than on the actually lamp base.
ReplyDeleteToo bad because it is a pretty little shade. Oh well.
Sometimes things just don't work out!
ReplyDeleteOh no - it's a shame about the lightshade as it looks beautiful
ReplyDeleteYou can buy rings from places like B&Q which will fit over the existing larger ring and make it smaller. I suspect this info is a bit late for you as you said it's gone to a charity shop!
ReplyDeleteGood lighting is important - not so much the styling, but adequate light in gloomy places, and softer lights in bedrooms etc. You will find the right shades in time
ReplyDeleteMatches one set of our bedding!
ReplyDeleteShame about the lampshade but at least it may yet have a new owner. I have real problems finding lights that actually give out light nowadays and have a daylight bulb in the little lamp beside my chair for reading/handstitching. Catriona
ReplyDeleteShame about the lampshade. I hadn't realised there were different sized rings.
ReplyDeleteWe don't bother with our overhead lights as they are all the flush, inset LED lights in the ceiling. Far too many in each room. We just use table lamps now with energy saver bulbs. Very romantic!
That is such a sweet lampshade. I'd have wanted it desperately...even though I haven't got a lamp to put it on. That is what I'd have been scouring the carboots for next!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pity as its rather lovely, have you heard any news of Weaver? Jean/winnipeg
ReplyDeleteNo news and it's very worrying
DeleteThank you. Jean
DeleteCan you not get an adaptor? x
ReplyDeleteThe bird motif on the lamp shade is quite lovely. 50p for a lamp shade is outstanding. With the holidays coming, will there be more boot sales?
ReplyDeleteA few more weeks of boot sales I think depending on the weather
DeleteMy bedroom shade was an op shop find - but nowhere near as pretty as the one you found. What a shame it wouldn't fit.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame that was a very pretty shade.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
The shade is pretty, but I couldn't think of a way to repurpose it. It won't last long at the charity shop.
