Have I done anything really interesting this week?
No.
I finished a small book - On This Holy Island by Oliver Smith, he visited places of pilgrimage past and present.
and found book another in a charity shop in town (50p). Colkirk Tales by Alfred Absolon....love the cover.
but otherwise it's been too much TV (still watching Bull) and tackling a 16 x16 Sudoku in a Puzzle book.
Of course there was the usual house work, washing, shopping and Exercise Group. I've put so many batch made meals in the freezer over the month that I've run out of boxes so no more will be made for a while. I now have a choice of Quorn Korma Curry, Nut Roast, Pizza topping and bases, Quorn Spag Bol sauce and Pasta/broccoli/ salmon bake for whenever.
At least I got some gardening done with planting out two courgettes and the squash plant (I think danger of frosts really has gone) and putting two cucumbers, one pepper and one aubergine into grow bags in the greenhouse. Plus the Climbing French beans out to the garden. There will be 4 tomato plants in the other grow bags and more peppers in pots next but they are still a bit small.
The roses in the garden are all flowering so I brought a few in

I'm making fruit scones today, we picked up some clotted cream, I'm not planting out much until this heat wave is passed, I will sow a few things.
ReplyDeleteI somehow missed the sugar out of my plain scones - now very plain scones! Need extra jam on them now
DeleteGosh yes, you would be done to a turn if you stood out in a car boot sale field this weekend! Well, perhaps not round here as it has gone grey, cool and overcast this morning. Scones - haven't made them for ages, apart from the cheese sort which top my Mince Cobblers.
ReplyDeleteI will do some baking this morning as Tam & co are here for two days, prior to Rosie's op. Hope your grandchild's op goes well - it's such a worry isn't it?
Thank you, yes YGD had her small op and is fine, hopefully she'll no longer get the frequent ear infections
DeleteEnjoy your scones, the perfect Bank holiday treat!
ReplyDeletePenny
It's a good thing there are no more Bank Holidays for a while!
DeleteOoh, I'd forgotten about the August bank holiday when I commented on someone else's post that our next one after this weekend would be Christmas! Oops!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see what you mean by griw bags, I'm intrigued. I'd love a good scones recipe though clotted cream is hard-to-come by here. Jam is plentiful.
ReplyDeleteThose roses are beautiful. Don't the Saturdays seem to roll around really quickly at the moment, it's quite scary how quickly the time is going. You might not think it but it actually sounds like you got a lot done last week, and the meals in your freezer are a good mix to cover every eventuality of things fancied.
ReplyDeleteYour roses in the vase are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHigh heat can be oppressive, and it is best to wait for cooler weather for many tasks outside. We also had a day of 90+ degree F weather. Now it is 60 degrees F, and cloudy with rain predicted.
I love roses, but our climate is not the best, and I have terrible luck with them. Yours are so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
That IS a great book cover! I'll be interested to hear what the book is like.
