As usual the Grandchildren were the main benefactors. Sand toys were £1.50 for Willow and a puzzle for sometime in the future....£1. (I'll probably get her a sandpit for Christmas but get it early so it can be used towards the end of this summer when she's one and a half).
I also bought two large perennials for £2.50 each, but can't remember what they were called. One was something beginning P U L S and has purple flowers rather like an anemone and the other is something that has leaves like an Iris and began with C A L A and in late spring will have tall spikes of white flowers. Whatever they are they are new to me and the garden and I soon got them planted out. To make a bit of space I dug out some of the bluebells, which have spread like crazy and moved them down to the meadow.
Next time I'm at a boot sale I'd better look out for something for Jacob.....more cars probably.
Back Tomorrow

Pulsatilla! They're lovely, we had one in our previous garden in the Midlands.
ReplyDeleteThat's it! Thank you
DeleteCar boot sales are fantastic for books and toys, although I haven't been to one since Lily was small. I'm keeping hold of a wooden ride on cow I bought, which is still as good as new, in anticipation of future grandchildren. 😆
ReplyDeleteI’ve road tested those exact books on nursery children and they love them.
ReplyDeleteSome good buys Sue. Plants are usually a good buy at a car boot also we don't have one in our village and I have not got a car, at least we usually have 3 jumble sales in the year. It look like another nice day althou we did have a frost, notice the new leaves.on several trees. I am going to Waddesdon Manor today with my daughter and grand daughter.

There are so many plants at boot sales and so much cheaper than garden centres
DeleteThe books are a great find you must have a little children's library at your house now - my granddaughter loves books but they are expensive. We usually manage to duplicate them between me and my two daughters - we must all be attracted by the same ones!
ReplyDeleteI love to take them a book when I visit
DeleteSounds like some great finds. I love buying books at boot sales - I love buying any used books lol. They are usually in great condition and so much cheaper. My kids loved books when they were little and having them grow up with them sets them up for later in life. The diary sounds interesting and - as you say - the stories are good for any year!
ReplyDeleteI love buying books for the grandchildren at 50p each they can have a new book every time I see them
DeleteHi Sue, just thought I'd mention that the dates in the 2013 diary match this year's dates so you could actually use the diary.
ReplyDeleteI noticed that but have this years anyway.
DeleteGreat purchases. I like Emma Smith's books.
ReplyDeleteYou have some good buys there, Sue. There is a big boot sale at Exeter racecourse on weekends without racing. Now it’s warmer, I think I’ll venture up there. It’s not a place to be in cold weather!
ReplyDeletePicking up the challenge now to think about the Cala plant, but the other sounds like a Pulsatilla which will delight as it progresses through many fascinating phases, and the seed heads are amazing. They come in pink and white also.
ReplyDeleteSome good buys there. I was going to say Pulsatilla too, but am well down the pack with my reply!
ReplyDeleteAs I was up in Yorkshire last weekend, Keith went to the car boot sale without me but said it was rubbish, though quite a few stalls. I bet I'd have found something!
That is a great haul!
ReplyDeleteGreat buys! I keep a bag of small cars - Hot Wheels and Matchbox - in my car so I can give my best friends grandson a little treat each time I see him. He calls me "Grandma Sue." He's expecting a new little brother to be born any day now. I would be thrilled if he loved books the way this little boy loves cars! We have our garage sales her in the US, and they are great resources for all things for children.
ReplyDeleteLovely deals. I envy you being able to plant already.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
A great haul, such wonderful bargains. I must admit to a tad of envy I love a good car boot sale.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant finds, nice when you find all sorts of goodies and for bargain prices xcx
