Great excitement...............a socially distanced queue in a churchyard for a Jumble sale!
I found a few things :- A couple of what they call "cosy" crime books from the USA, 2 new Pritt sticks and a little Aloe Vera plant - haven't had one for a while so will endeavour to care for this one as they are so handy for burns.
My total donation to Church Funds was £3.
I hope this is a sign of things getting more normal as I also found some of the smaller libraries are going to re-open for browsing next week and Very Excited because the swimming pool may also be opening at the end of the month.
After hearing on the local news that in the counties of Essex, Suffolk and Norfolk (that's a total population of around about 3 million people) there were just 22 people in the regions hospitals with Covid on the 9th August, I think we are pretty safe whatever we do.

I think we are safer now than at any time this year, here in Hampshire we have low figures, and we are all aware of the mobility of this virus. As they say knowledge is everything.

DeleteI'm glad numbers are down, but the virus is still around, and we do need to be sensible. It's SO good to be able to get out again though...

DeleteOh a jumble sale, things are getting back to normal, I would have been there too if I lived near. If pubs and restaurants can be open why not libraries? I am so missing our little village one, not just for browsing but it’s the hub of the village the social life of many local people

DeleteOne problem with libraries here was that they are mostly older volunteers running them. I think with plenty of hand sanitiser limiting numbers inside at a time and putting returned books away for 3 days it should be safe enough.
Pleased you had a good day at the jumble and got a few bits. We have had a lot of rain this weekend so not much gardening done, hoping to get some damsons picked today and give them to the lady who comes to see her brother who is disabled, my tree is over loaded with them.

I put a few damsons in the freezer but have left lots for the birds and butterflies as i'm not keen on them and I have so many plums
DeleteWe've been quite lucky round here, haven't we. I'm not sure why and I guess we shouldn't get complacent, but it does feel a bit safer again. Hopefully, people will still take precautions though.

DeleteGlad you got to your jumble sale, however accidentally. One happy bunny! An even happier one now that things are opening up for you, but remember to be on your guard. It doesn't seem real saying things like that, does it? Normally I would say, 'Don't spend too much' or 'Have fun', but that's the sign of the times.
ReplyDeleteOur libraries are now open for browsing too but you have to wear a face covering. I'm just hoping they make people sanitize their hands before touching the books and, as you say, putting aside returned books for 3 days.
ReplyDeleteAlthough we have no new cases this week, our area is heaving with guideline ignoring tourists in regular, disorderly and mask free queues about the village and the police are over stretched trying to deal with wild campers and overnight parking issues. We locals, unanimously, seem to feel anything but safe at this time. Glad you got to your jumble and picked up some bargains feeling safe enough to do so. It will return here, too.

ReplyDeleteI am really glad to hear the cases of Covid are down so low in your area. That is encouraging for sure. Where I live we are at a higher count than ever before so we must still stay in as much as possible. But it can't last forever and I remain positive. I hope you have a good week Sue.
