Stowmarket Church have had a Christmas Tree Festival every year (except last year) for many years now. When they first started I'd not heard of tree festivals before, now they pop up in lots of places.
I went to have a look last week, with camera of course. Just a few photos to fill today's post. All decorated by individuals and organisations in the town.
I was so disappointed that they weren't doing coffee and cakes this year as I'd not had breakfast specially! - had to go to Greggs instead.

Interesting with the trees, the church I used to belong to didn't allow them due to their pagan connections and distracction from the main event! I like the dove origami one the best.

Greggs was Greggs but their coffee is hot - that's the main thing.

DeleteI've only ever been to one Tree Festival, up in Castleton, Derbyshire, when Eldest Daughter lived Oop North.

Greggs Iced doughnut was a poor substitute for a home made cake!

ReplyDeleteOne in London had a restaurant in the basement over gravestones…near the museum…I love England and was sad when Covid cut my grand girl semester at Bristol short…she is now working for a publisher in NYC one of my two favorite cities… but then I love Dallas and Austin and…I digress.

ReplyDeleteSeemingly one of our local churches is doing something similar, I'm wondering whether I would be able to manage to walk around to look at the trees. I guess there's always a pew I could sit on for a while.

Very festive and creative. I brought a festival of trees to my village twenty years ago and, although I've stepped back, it's still going. Didn't even miss a beat last year, when it became a festival of trees displayed in windows! It's now been extended to a wreath competition, and an Angel Trail.
ReplyDeleteOh how brilliant. One of the other villages in the area had a star trail and another has village advent windows (but Can't remember where I saw the ad!)
DeleteWe do a festival of trees but usually businesses decorate them and they raffle them off for a fundraiser.

ReplyDeleteThe origami bird tree is lovely, but I’ll pick the We Three Kings tree with the gold/white bells and angels as my favorite. What a lovely day out. (I would be disappointed not to find the homemade cake, too!)
ReplyDeleteI love the dove tree best. (Occasionally, I decorate a tree in feathered song birds and small white lights.) British churches do a great service to the community bringing people together for events like the Christmas Tree festival. Somebody mistakenly eliminated the cake and coffee. I suspect many people were disappointed.
