Sunday's New York Times Wordle was an odd one - got it in 5. 52 in a row now, 97% out of 156 it tells me. Is that good? or just average or not very good at all? I have no idea.
Anyone else been watching the Cycling World Championships on TV? I watch almost any sport that's on! It's really good to see a para-sport fully integrated into mainstream. The Brits train together too.
Next year is the Olympics in France and a practice open-water swimming competition that had been planned to take place in the Seine had to be cancelled due to pollution. I hope they find somewhere else to hold it as I can't imagine they'll be able to clean up a huge river in a year.
What I'm really looking forward to is the Rugby Union World Cup which is also in France so the right times for watching here. It starts on September 8th, but before that there is the World Athletics Championships which are in Budapest, 9 days starting on the 19th of this month.
I didn't read many pages of this library book. It was just thoughts put into words which I couldn't be bothered with.
Yesterday evening I was so chilly, even after adding an extra layer, that I clicked the heating on for an hour - it's August for goodness sake

I watched a bit of the cycling as it's taking place near me. The section where the protestors glued themselves to the road is about 1 mile from me. I'm not sure gluing themselves to 'stuff' or interrupting other sports events is the right way to get their important message out though
ReplyDeleteThe cyclists were held up for an hour, standing around getting chilly. Can't see the point at all - who says" Oh they've held up the cycling - I must join their campaign"?

DeleteI have no idea about Wordle scores, my current streak is 32. I did get to 64 once then failed to complete one [it was an American spelling which I didn't spot in time] I also do Quordle now.

DeleteIf it makes you feel any better, I have lit woodburner after supper the last two nights. Not a big burn, but enough to take the chill off (and it seems as if every day I am dressed the same as autumn - long, sleeve fleece and jeans 🥶 ).

DeleteI find worgle easier than wordle, the extra letter makes a huge difference. I'm better with numbers, so my average is about the same as yours.

DeleteWe have resisted putting on any heat but will try out the central heating today to make sure it's working properly, We actually don't use it much, but rely on the multi-fuel burner. How may layers are sensible before one cannot move at all?

DeleteI usually get Wordle in 3 or 4, but yesterday I didn't get it at all although I've had one in my nose. Duh! I don't know about statistics. I didn't notice it being chilly.

DeleteI'm a Wordler! My son who lives in Turkey and works in Iraq also Wordles and we email each other every morning with our results, adding any chat/news/doings, etc to the emails. It's a good way of ensuring all is well. Recently, though, I have broken my streak of 147 - very sad about that. :(

DeleteI play Wordly and Wordle every day by stats at the moment are 226 played (I had a break of 6 months) 95% win and current streak 57. Sometimes I just lose the will to think though and blow my winning streak to see what the word was. I got Saturdays in four tries, more luck than judgement I think.

DeleteI enjoy Wordle it gets my brain in gear and i send my result to my son and he sends me his and we exchange a few words about life and my neighbour puts her result up on facebook and I add mine alongside some of her family members. I read you can do wordle in “hard mode” ? Jean/winnipeg

DeleteI WISH we could watch cycling. Seems like the US TV/cable isn't much into it. It was almost impossible to find the Tour de France, even, without a pay service -- it wasn't even on most cable stations with some exceptions at 7 a.m. and 1 a.m. Rick and I watched some highlights on youtube. We were routing for the Yates brothers!
ReplyDeleteThis new thing being held in Scotland this year is billed as an extravaganza of all cycling sports - and it covers everything. It's been on the BBC here. Perhaps it will be a regular event held in different parts of the world

ReplyDeleteWe have a rainy day here today but it hasn't gotten too chilly yet. If it clears up a bit, I may get out to do some weeding today - I am WAY overdue but the weeds are easier to pull because they are so TALL!! :)
I did a half hour of pulling out tall weeds from the border and hoeing smaller weeds out of the front shingle driveway this morning and now my garden waste bin is full again and not emptied until next Monday.
DeleteAugust is usually very hot and having to turn on your heating system seems most unusual. It is 75-80 degrees F in Massachusetts. Rain is predicted for today and tomorrow. Everything is nice and green. Unfortunately, I do not have access to UK cycling competitions. In the US, Simone Biles (gymnast) has returned to compete and she looks outstanding.
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame this World Cycling event isn't popular enough for other countries to broadcast it. There have been some excellent races with competitors from all over the world.
DeleteI heard mention here that Simone Biles was back in action again and read the Artistic Gymnastic World Championship is in October.
