One other thing we managed to do over the weekend was advertised on the local Next Door and Facebook pages - 100 tractors in a charity tractor run from west Suffolk into our area and back by a different route. Small boys and some bigger ones like tractors so we all went to watch them pass the end of Son's road. Much tooting and waving, we forgot to count but there were "quite a few" as we say in Suffolk. Huge modern ones as well as the vintage that we often see on a smaller charity tractor run through my village.

I love tractor runs, everyone seems so happy and it is often a family day out for the tractor drivers as well with children sitting proudly by the side of their dads.

DeleteGreat fun. There's a vintage tractor run that goes through my village every year, though this year it rained all day and I stayed at home.

DeleteTractor Runs seem to be increasing in popularity everywhere now. It's always lovely to see them from the bright, shiny, new gleaming giants to the old vintage ones that put put put their way along. belching out goodness, knows what behind them.
ReplyDeleteThe most recent one here was held in memory of a very popular, local gentleman. who died tragically all too soon. It raised over £3000 Donated to the local renal unit at the hospital
That's an amazing amount to raise - I think this run was in aid of the West Suffolk Hospice

DeleteLast Saturday, I was watching a tractor pull, where tractors vie against each other, antiques and new, divided by weight classes, to put the heaviest weights the farthest distance. I actually enjoyed it. The winner was an elderly man who pulled his tractor off the track and sat in the hot sun watching the rest of the competitors closely.
ReplyDeleteWe seem to have more than our fair share of tractor runs here too, they do look wonderful en masse don't they. It makes Alan miss his old John Deere too, the big one not his tiny little mostly grass cutting one.

DeleteWe have a link box that hubby has fixed an old rear car seat in...quite the spectacle as you can imagine! However not the worst ride around the countryside can be had in it on tractor runs. x
