Short of ideas for blog posts so this is an interesting post from August 2018 HERE. There were loads of comments, but it was sad to see how many of the people commenting have now died. I wonder how many others are still reading the blog, let me know if you commented back then and are still reading - you certainly deserve a special mention!!
Only 7 years ago, not long after Colin died and life has changed again in so many ways since then.
I think I'll do a similar post tomorrow.
I wasn’t reading blogs back then but I am now and enjoying yours very much. Best wishes, Charmaine
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteI started blog reading in 2014 and am still here. I used to enjoy Margaret Powling's blog (Galant as she called herself), lovely photos of her area and home life. She had some "stick", but I found her writing to be of interest.
ReplyDeleteMargaret wrote for magazines I believe and she did write very well
DeleteHot Air balloons drive the dogs mad, much barking. I miss Weaver and Margaret Powling (Devon Dreaming) both educated older women, quite different in style but good reading. I much prefer the written word to other more vocal platforms being very hard of hearing so very thankful that you and a few other stalwarts are still blogging although I can never understand American blogs, try as I might. Keep up the good work, thankyou. Sandra.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep writing as long as people keep reading!
DeleteWhat a good idea for a post. I didn’t comment that day but I did follow you back then. My blogging ebbs and flows but I still enjoy it
ReplyDeleteHi Anon - do you have a blog?
DeleteYours was the first blog I ever read and that was in 2014. The medium was new to me then.
ReplyDeleteIt was new to me in 2013 too!
DeleteI was reading back then but didn't comment. It was clearly another hot summer. I enjoy George Bellairs books very much, particularly set in the Isle of Man or France.
ReplyDeletePenny
I wish the price of Bellairs books would drop on abebooks and amazon as I'd love to read them all
DeleteWatch out for times when Amazon have Kindle unlimited for free or very nearly - I take them up on the offer and have read almost all George Bellairs books for free now. Love the blog, been reading it for several years, from smallholding days...Elaine x
DeleteI didn't comment then, but I was reading. It's hard to believe that was 7 years ago.
ReplyDeleteTime is certainly flying by
DeleteGosh, I left you a rambling comment back then too. I love looking back on old posts and seeing lots of familiar names in the comment section. I miss Weaver and Elaine especially. 🌹🌹
ReplyDeletePat used to write so well - always interesting.
DeleteI don't comment very often but I have been following you since you were at the smallholding,
ReplyDeleteSeems an age now, lovely to have people reading my ramblings for so long
DeleteI have been reading for a long time, but rarely comment. I am trying to comment on people's blogs more - hoping to encourage my readers to comment on mine too, I guess! But my blogging mojo comes and goes, so I'm not very regular.
ReplyDeletePlease share your blog details, when clicking on your name here it doesn't show your blog name
DeleteI wasn't following you then. It's interesting to look back on old posts and see the comments.
ReplyDeleteIt's very handy for filling a blog post!
DeleteI did leave a comment on the balloons back then...one about the huge annual Balloon Festival held in October in Albuquerque, NM. I've seen it several more times since then, but only because I happen to be visiting my in-laws. Their home sits up near the foothills of the Sandia Mountains so I only have to sit out in front of their home to look down on the main field to see the action (without paying fees!). A very wide open vista. Then again, I've always enjoyed hearing about your tales of life in Suffolk. Another place I've spent quite a bit of time.
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading for so long!
DeleteCoincidently the big balloon festival that happens in Bristol in SW England was just on todays news
I had not read the 2018 post. Having no recollection of you redecorating your previous home, I must have started reading after that.
ReplyDeleteI repainted the living room there as it was a horrible colour. I did it sunny yellow - much better
DeleteFor the life of me I can't remember when I started to read blogs, but I very much enjoyed reading one of yours from 'yesteryear ' x
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
It's a cheating way of filling a blog post!
DeleteI wasn't reading blogs yet - I think I started after I retired in 2019 probably during COVID. I'm pretty sure I found your blog through Pat (Weaver of Grass). I miss her.
ReplyDeleteI miss Pat too she always had something thoughtful to say
DeleteYes, I commented on that post and I too miss Weaver-she was such an erudite lady. Catriona
ReplyDeleteSpecial mention for long time readers and commenters! thank you
DeleteI started reading blogs in about 2007, but didn't begin my own till 2008. Now I am retired I spend more time commenting. Lots of us miss Pat.
ReplyDeleteI'm bad at commenting sometimes. My Eldest Daughter said in 2012 that I would enjoy blogging but it took several months for me to get going.
DeleteGoodness, you're nearly up to 20 years!
I never comment on a blog. I started reading yours just around that time in 2018. Read back to the start of your blog. At that time I was very impressed how you managed on your own. Over the years yours is the blog I start with every day. I enjoy it very much and also the comments.
ReplyDeleteLiesbeth from the Netherlands
Thank you for those kind words - I will keep writing.
DeleteI'm still here and still reading. Surprised to find that I must have been following your life for nearly 10 years!
ReplyDeleteThank you for reading my ramblings for so long!
DeleteHmmm, in reading the post I can safely say I do remember reading it, but didn't post a comment. Very strange.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Thank you for reading for so long anyway
DeleteI think I was away visiting Mum back then. Seems so long ago. I do remember Sheila - Life's too short to iron tea towels. I really liked her blog. I often wonder what happened to her.
ReplyDeleteI seem to remember she had a stroke - her family posted a message.
DeleteI’ve been reading your blog and others for many years, I rarely comment though. I read John’s blog at Going Gently then skip to you and from your blog list I read my other favourites. Lynda x
