Second Library Book Photo for May....in June

Hooray to the lovely library people who found my 15 books in the mobile depot, labelled them up, sent them via the delivery van to Stowmarket, where they duly arrived on Tuesday and I got an email to pick them up ASAP. So I did.

I'm really grateful to them because they might have said "wait until the next visit".

There are so many that it needed two photos to fit them all in.

As usual most are crime fiction and some are by authors I know, but more are new-to-me authors, so that will be interesting to see what they are like. I'm puzzled by the Katie Fford labelled as Thriller - think that might be wrong as they are usually quite lightish fiction which I read now and again for a change. The book by Kate Morton, an author I know of but haven't read looks rather large - which always puts me off.

Now which to read first?........................... but what a lovely dilemma to have!

These are what I collected four weeks ago. I read seven.  Info of those I read are on the Books Read 2025 page.

Back Soon .

  1. How kind of them. They probably see how much you read and knew that going cold turkey might not be good, so acted in your best interests. Not many would, so you have a good library service there. Enjoy your selections.

  2. What a brilliant service! I have not read anything by Jim Eldridge - but I loved listening to "King Street Junior" on Radio 4 extra. A long running series about life in a Primary School [in those halcyon days before the National Literacy Strategy, and "fronted adverbials"]

  3. Would be interested to know what the Robert Peston one is like.

  4. Interesting choice of books and I’ll look forward to your thoughts on the fiction ones. I’m currently re-reading Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine for my book group. Catriona

  9. I have read a few Kate Morton books and yes they are quite long but I find that she is such a good story writer that I'm quickly hooked and can't put them down.

  10. You have a good collection there, they should keep you going for a while. Katie Fforde isn't usually a 'thriller' writer, maybe a bit of a question or two involved, or maybe she's branching out.

    1. I'll put a note in when I return it to say it's got the wrong spine label as it's her usual sort

  11. I’ve read all Kate Morton’s books and they are big but once into them I can’t put them down, her research is forensic. Sandra.

  12. What a good service, I complain about our council tax but this is the sort of service it pays for and I guess I should be grateful we have library services at all!

  14. I remember the Helen Simonson book as a good one but not the plot.

  15. It's interesting -- to me, anyway, as a library assistant -- that they don't use spine labels on the fiction (aside from genre). We put FIC GRI, for example, for John Grisham. I guess they just alphabetize by author within each genre? (I'm guessing!)

    1. I guess we know they are fiction - because they aren't non-fiction!! and all the genres are shelved separately as you say - by author in alphabet order.

  16. I borrowed the Katie Fforde one last month but just couldn't get into it. I'm afraid it went back pretty quickly after reading (and not enjoying) about 80 pages. My new Tom Hindle is much more interesting.

  17. Your library van service is to be complimented. They provide outstanding customer service. They clearly went above and beyond to deliver your books.
Will you write a thank you note?

    1. I've left a message to pass on big thanks to the person who found them among all the others waiting, bundled them and labelled them and sent them on their way.

  18. All Kate Morton books are rather large, but I enjoyed the ones I have read so far. That one is a new one to me.

    God bless.

  19. I'm going to go through these and see what I haven't read. I love Kate Morton books; very big but I enjoy the "huge" story arcs she describes.

  20. I'll have to check your book page on Jim Kelly. I have two Eldridge books I've yet to read. He looks promising! What a great haul!

  21. What a lovely variety of books to choose from! You'll have lots of reading material for this month. My Mum used to really enjoy the Kate Morton books. She didn't used to come out with a new one except maybe once every other year and Mum would wait a little impatiently lol. Happy reading!
