A Different Cheese To Try

I came home from a visit to YD and EGD via the Co-op in Debenham for the locally made  Lane Farm  sausages and while I was there looked at their range of 'artisan' (that just means expensive!) cheeses, to try something different.

Choose this smoked cheese from a producer I'd not heard of .

After googling I found they'd been around for 25 years...

I love cheese, any cheese, and there hasn't been a cheese I've tried in the 19 cheese tasting posts that I've not liked at all, but I'm afraid this one really wasn't good. Has to be eaten rather than thrown out but it's hard with an odd after taste.

Aldi don't have their multi grain crackers/biscuits that I used to get so I got these Salt and Pepper ones and goodness they really are peppery which is good as it overpowers the cheese!

  1. What a pity. I don't suppose you could cook with it and hide the odd after taste with something stronger?

  2. Grate and put in the freezer for toppings is another way.

  5. What a shame-I really enjoy smoked cheese but that was a disappointment. Catriona.

    1. I've never had a smoked cheese so hard and tough before

  6. Was it the smoked oak which flavored it weirdly?

  7. I've never tried smoked cheese and given your review this will stay off my radar.
Lately, I like Edam and Brie. Strong Cheddar is always on hand too.
My favorite cracker is garlic and herb or a plain wheat cracker.

  8. Unfortunately cheese and I have had a bit of a falling out so I don't buy any for myself any more :( - but my family does love a good cauliflower and broccoli cheese, so cheeses that don't get consumed immediately by my daughter tend to get used in that.

  9. Oh, that's a shame you didn't care for the cheese. I haven't had that one, but like you, I'm generally happy with almost any cheese. I don't eat much of it, though. It disagrees with my cholesterol readings!

  10. Oh that is really too bad. I bought some cheese once that was really salty for some reason, so I used it to cook with and didn't have to add salt to my meal.

    God bless.

  11. Sorry you didn't care for it. I love cheese, but I don't really like smoked cheese. It seems to have a weird taste to it.
