How's the List Looking?

Firstly must say thank you for comments on Saturday, sorry I didn't get around to replying.

Back at the end of February when car boot sales were about to start I wrote a list of things to look out for.

  • Clothes Pegs. Just ordinary wooden ones with a spring. I tend to use these for pegging all sorts of things in the garden and bags in the freezer and then the number I have to actually peg out clothes gets less until there are hardly any in the peg bag.
  • Small ceramic oblong pie dishes. Had to chuck out two small ones last year - both really badly crackled glaze.
  • A new sieve - one of mine has a crack in the rim
  • Interesting looking books
  • Christmas Crackers
  • Birthday cards - especially for men
  • Useful things from house clearance people - like half used packs of baking parchment, foil, cling film etc
  • A Pretty plate for Spring display - cheap
  • Jigsaws for next autumn/winter
I found pegs, washing soda, greaseproof paper, soap and a jigsaw puzzle in March. In April I bought some lovely birthday cards, sponge scourers and  parchment paper.
At the first May Boot sale on Saturday I ticked the sieve off the list for 50p.It's exactly the same as one of mine that had a crack in the rim and is now in the bin.

In case you don't know - here is a sieve!!

No books or Christmas crackers yet.....................plenty of time left.

That giant cauliflower that  weighed 3½ lb and cost me just £1 fed me for 6 meals, two x cauliflower cheese and 4 times as a vegetable with something else....what a bargain.

  1. Most of us in the US call them strainers but I did know that they are also called sieves! I got mine at an estate sale and it is a dandy!

    1. I thought "this is the silliest photo I've ever posted on a blog" but added it anyway!

    1. There's a shortage of interesting books this year - I keep looking

  3. So satisfying to get things off the list. Now the better weather's here I need to get into car boot sales again. We often found plants propagated by others to be much cheaper than garden centres. I'm looking forward to seeing a spring plate if you find one, nice to have your small seasonal display to change round

    1. There are always plenty of plants at the big Saturday boot sale here and often good value , I'm not buying many this year, nothing does well here. Perennials get smaller rather than bigger.

  4. A list is a good idea and certainly gives you a focus when looking through all the stuff that’s laid out. I have a similar one on my phone just now as I search for plants for the garden. Catriona

  5. You are doing so well with your list. Lists are always useful, so long as you remember to take them with you. It's all too easy to forget!

    1. I did write a proper list one year and had it in my purse, but then I'd forget I had it so now it's just in my head!

  6. I really like the pursuit of useful disposable stuff such as foil, parchment paper, that kind of thing. It's not adding clutter.

    1. Using up half packets of things that would otherwise be thrown away in the house clearance seems a good plan.

  7. You are finding everything on your list and that is success. Having a good look around and the people watching adds to the fun.

  8. Brilliant to be able to tick something off your list so early in the season. I'm sure I have posted sillier photos than one of a sieve ... so you are in good company. ;-)

  10. In Canada we call them sieves as well. Must be because of our connection to the UK.

    God bless.
