HERE'S a post from smallholding days 10 years ago .July 2015
For context - this was a year or so after Colin had heart problems and stents done, when we had decided to sell the smallholding and do some travelling while we could. We never got to do that because the smallholding took months to sell and by November 2015 the first symptoms of Non Hodgkins Lymphoma had started to appear and it was diagnosed properly in March 2016.
Back Soon
Sometimes looking back at old posts they feel like centuries ago, other times like it was just last week...
ReplyDeleteThat marinade looks good , something to rustle up from store cupboard ingredients [I did a freezer sort yesterday, found some chicken thighs which need using up...]
It makes me sad to look back, although I'm glad of the blog for things I've forgotten
DeleteIt was interesting to read the post from ten years ago, your making for the Christmas hampers sounded particularly good and gave me a couple of ideas. I wonder how the walnut saplings are doing now in their new homes.
ReplyDeletePenny
I used to have lots of ingredients to make all sorts of chutneys etc - not so much now
DeleteIt's so interesting to look back. Sometimes we can be really surprised at what was going on *then*.
ReplyDelete.
It's good to read about things I'd forgotten - even if it makes me sad
DeleteSmallholding and allotments posts are right up my street.
ReplyDeleteLots on my old blog!
DeleteSometimes you can’t believe how time has flown. Irene er we always wanted to come with our caravan to visit but sadly never managed it. Catriona
ReplyDeleteThe people who bought the smallholding shut the campsite a few years ago - so much for them wanting to keep it for retirement!
DeleteThis is such a coincidence because I am just written a blog post linking back to July 2011 when our pigs were leaving the farm in dribs and drabs. I decided to do it because all their photos were flashing up on my Facebook Memories this week, and I fell down a rabbit hole.
ReplyDeleteThere must be something in the air!!
It's the heat! - or too hot to go and do anything to blog about
DeleteWe all enjoy a trip down memory lane at times x
ReplyDeleteAlison in Devon x
It's handy when I run out of ideas for posts
DeleteYou two were so busy on that smallholding! I'm sorry you never got the chance to travel together. Do you ever think about planning more travel for yourself now? Where would you want to go if you could?
ReplyDeleteI'm not much of a lone traveller - and wouldn't bother to go overseas, but there are many places that I've not seen here
DeleteThe smallholding was a very big and successful part of your life. Together you ran an impeccable business which takes skill, hard work and determination. Very impressive!
ReplyDeleteIt was a good time, especially after Colin retired from the County Council and could be at home
