Autumn colours.
We don't get the huge range of oranges and reds that can be seen in the US, usually just yellows and browns as the leaves change but here and there the odd tree stands out. This one below I think I've photographed before as it's at the edge of the Asda car park in Stowmarket.
Outside under the kitchen window is this patch of Michaelmas Daisies that has gradually spread from nothing over my years here. There is another plant with much darker flowers by the path too.
I've finished the October jigsaw puzzle, all pieces present and correct, thank goodness, after thinking there was a piece missing right to the end.
It's definitely Colin in his blue overalls in the workshop!- we even had a grey Ferguson tractor and a Collie dog although we didn't have the lovely stone building and all the other bits of machinery.
And now we are past halfway through another month, it's another weekend and racing to November.

The verges of a bypass close to us have massed planting of spindle (Euonymus europaeus) - whether it was deliberate or birds I don't know, but this autumn they are putting on a spectacular red display.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite trees - it used to grow wild along the Shaftesbury ("Shaston") Drove, when I lived just outside of Salisbury. That mix of bright pink and orange seeds is stunning.
DeleteI only know of one spindle tree locally, they were planted in many hedges where I lived at the smallholding
DeleteThat's a lovely jigsaw. We have a group of sycamores nearby which always go a proper autumn red.

DeleteI have those same lilac daisies...they have been flowering all year but set to take over my garden!

DeleteOh the daisies look beautiful don't they and that jigsaw is a lovely picture. It's Alan's dream to own and renovate an old grey Fergie, I thought that itch had been well and truly scratched with his John Deere renovation, but it seems not!!
