The weather forecast was for possibly a few showers but actually we had several minutes of proper rain on Sunday morning.
Enough for it to run off the living room roof into my water butt. I filled up two watering cans and a bucket while it was pouring in.

And then it moved away to the East, it looks as if further South and North missed out. Son and family were camping with friends in Norfolk, I hoped it stayed fine for them there.
After the rain stopped things warmed up again and now it's back to near heatwave conditions for the foreseeable - high 20's℃ all week and into next week too.
After my lunch as I was feeling better than I'd been for a couple of weeks. I thought it was about time to up my game and went out for a bit of church visiting to make some future posts for the blog.
You know. I would like a brief tutorial on you water catchment.

ReplyDeleteI'm jealous of your downpour. Here on the edge of Cornwall, we had misty drizzle from Saturday evening, which I thought was a promising start. However, all we had on Sunday morning was a 15 minute light shower. Barely enough to thoroughly wet the deck. The rest of the day was windy so it dried everything quickly. Nothing on the forecast all week. It's looking grim, just hoping we don't get idiots causing fires. We have plant saucers of water dotted around the garden in shady spots, there's a steady stream of birds visiting all day.

ReplyDeleteA few spots of rain yesterday, some in the night on Saturday, but not enough to make much difference. It is at least cooler and cloudy. I would love a day out somewhere for ME, but diesel prices have knocked this on the head as two goodly journeys in the next week will half empty the tank I topped up on Saturday. . .

ReplyDeleteIt rained here Sunday morning for about twenty seconds, just enough to wet the windows,and that was it. We did have a smattering on Saturday during the night but that was nothing very much. The grass is now looking like straw all over Norfolk. I

It is cooler though, which is a nice change. I do feel for the folk having to evacuate their homes because of fire - how awful for them.

That looks like quite a downpour. We had a very fine mist of rain this morning. It didn't even wet the pavements. Xx
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for rain here as I have to water my brother's garden plot while he and his whole family are on a wonderful trip to Italy. It's hard work to carry the watering cans back and forth from the watering station to his two plots. I guess it's a good workout for my arms!? :)
ReplyDeleteWe had proper rain on and off all through Saturday night, and then sporadic showers as we headed to Manchester yesterday. At least I don't have to water the garden for a couple of days. 😄

ReplyDeleteEverything is bone dry here. The high heat has moderated to around 80 degrees F during the day and it goes down to 60 degree F at night. It is pleasant enough outside and I continue to have to water my plants and veggie garden to keep them alive.

It's raining here now, rained overnight too. It is surprisingly chilly - so much so, we have lit the woodburner!

I am glad you saw rain! It has been dry here in Maryland. It is raining now, but the showers are so brief. I remember summer days when it would rain steadily all day long. Have a cozy afternoon!

ReplyDeleteHigh 20s would be just called Summer here - we did get down to single digits over the last week or so overnight, so a bit nippy here.
We could definitely use some rain here. We got a few drops today, but really need much more.
