I picked this up from Tesco's clearance trolley, reduced to £1.60 from £4...........A Calamondin tree
Lovely picture of oranges on the pack............."A dwarf tree, with dark glossy green foliage, with fabulous orange scented blossoms, that become small orange citrus fruits".
Well, never heard of it before so it came home with me.
Looked it up........... "Calamondin are the easiest to care for of all the citrus trees". Well that's good news! I like oranges.
Then I put my glasses on and read that small print " CAUTION: Fruits are for decoration only.
Oh Bother!
Many Thanks for all the comments about cucumbers yesterday

From the Greenhouse.
Cucumber Anbar
The seed packet said
The website said
"Cucumber 'Anbar' is an all female hybrid, with the ability to set fruit without pollination – so fruits well even in poor summers with fewer pollinating insects. Anbar has excellent disease resistance.

A short and stumpy cucumber but a month earlier than predicted and very good. Given that large cucumbers are 50p each at the moment my 4 plants need to produce 20 (of this size) cucumbers to cover the cost of the seed. I sowed seeds of two different sorts of cucumber but three of my four plants are these small ones and I'm not sure about the other one. I really ought to know to label things better after all this time! And I really only have room for 3 plants.

And PS welcome to new followers over in the little pictures on the right taking total to 161 after weeks stuck on 159. I'm starting to sound like John Gray........ I'm not really begging for followers BUT I had 400+ on the old blog!

Something Old
My late Mum stitched this tapestry many many (60+?) years ago. For most of that time it was rolled up in a cupboard until a friend of theirs offered to make a wooden frame and turned it into a fire screen for her.
After Dad's death and the house clearance my sister kept it for a while and then passed it onto me and here it is in use hiding the wood-burner for the summer.
On the left is a brass trivet made probably around the same time as the screen. Real Dad was a machine fitter at ICI in Stowmarket and would have made it there for their new home.
For the first time in many years we have a proper wood mantle and once the living room has been painted I shall find some more things to display on it.
Thank You for comments about my painting and decorating. We did all our own decorating in the past but usually shared the work between us with Col doing the ceilings and woodwork and me doing walls, so doing it all myself is a bit of a new achievement.
Back soon I guess
