Almost The Last Day of October

 The Big Question for November..........

Shall I do an A-Z on the 26 blogging days of November just as I did through November last year? Last year I managed to find 26 things to write about, all things that I was interested in or had a connection too, would I be able to do it all over again without repeating myself?

So Q for Question

Shall I find 26 things, another  A-Z to blog about?

Think I need ideas for X and Z!

  1. How about a reverse alphabet, with words ENDING in A, B, C etc? Or more simply, start with a Z word and end with A. I'm sure there's a post to be written about zips, and surprising uses round the house. You could share some of your excellent ideas for Xmas hampers too. (I know many people don't like that spelling. But since I discovered that in earlier times, X was the accepted abbreviation for Christ& his cross - hence those who could not write would mark documents with "the sign of the cross" as a declaration of honesty - I'm quite cool with Xmas) I look forward with interest to the month's posts

    1. I used to get so cross with people who wrote Xmas for Christmas until, like you, I discovered that X was an acceptable abbreviation for Christ crucified. I can't say I like it, but at least now I accept it.

    2. I didn't know about X either. So thank you both, that's solved the X problem

  2. We started the alphabet at around the same time and I'm only at Q!

  3. Did your children ever have a small version of a xylophone - maybe you remember the noise they made😊

  4. I'd love to read an A to Z blog through November - if you want to do it. I really enjoyed last year's and maybe some could be same work with a new slant on it? xx

  5. I have been taking part in a 26 week long alphabet challenge on Facebook. this week we are up to the letter V. I have been successful on each letter but next up is X. This will be tricksy as It's not just a matter of coming up with the words. We have to come up with an illustration for each. I'm sure you'll give those two pesky letters a run for their money.

  6. The general feeling is that you should do it again this year:-) I did the April one this year. Some letters have so many possibilities, others not so much so.

    1. I'd not heard about the April link. But I usually have lots to write about in April with the garden etc. November can be dull

  7. It's so dull and wet, we aren't doing much, so doing your November A-Z should be fun for you and for us to read.

  9. I like Angela’s idea of starting at Z and working backwards. I enjoyed your alphabet when you did it so would be happy to read your 26 posts. Zingy, Zoom and Zinc popped into my head or perhaps Zinnias if you have any photos of those. Catriona

  13. Here are some potential ideas for X and Z for your November A-Z blogging challenge:

X - Xenophobia (fear or dislike of that which is foreign or strange). You could discuss current issues around xenophobia and promoting inclusion.

X - Xylophone. Write about the history and sounds of the xylophone instrument. Share some fun facts.

Z - Zen. Write about Zen philosophy and practices like meditation. Share how incorporating some zen principles has helped your well-being.

Z - Zodiac. Pick one of the 12 zodiac signs and write about its traits and how they resonate (or don't resonate) with your personality. People often find their sign interesting to learn about.

Z - Zeal. Discuss something you feel passionately about and what gives you zeal and enthusiasm in that area of your life. Inspire readers with your zest for a cause, hobby, etc.

Z - Zanzibar. Do a "travelogue" style post sharing what you find most fascinating about the history and culture of the island of Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania.

I think with some creative brainstorming you could certainly pull together another 26 topics without repeating from last year. Let me know if any of these ideas or others sparked some inspiration for X and Z!

  14. I remember your K for Kitchens and how many you’d had - which made me wonder the same thing!

    1. I've an idea for a K but it's reliant on good weather and a trip out

  15. The x for Christ and Christmas has nothing to do with the cross. It's from the Greek letter chi, which is x shaped and is the beginning of the word Christ.

  16. I think it is a great idea. I enjoyed last year’s one and am sure I will like this one as well.

X can be easy if you cheap a bit and talk about “ex- something” something you used to do and enjoyed but now don’t, for example

Did you get to the NSPCC book sale? I did t realize they put more books out on Saturday evening…had to go back on Sunday!

  17. X for kisses, Z for sleep or the difference between us/uk pronunciation, Y for why, when it is a vowel or Yorkshire (puddings and terriers). English is so diverse, it will be fun.

  18. There are garden flowers which begin with x. You could justify a purchase. Win win!
