The November Library Book Photo

Very pleased to pick up my reserved library books this month as I'd run out and read a British Library Crime Classic from my shelves while I was waiting.

There were 12 waiting for me, 10 are below and the other two have winter in the title ready for the Reading The Seasons 'challenge', so I'll do a post about them when we get into December.

Six crime fiction including a British Library Crime Classic short story collection, three non fiction and the new Persephone on the end 'Waters Under The Earth' that I mentioned the other day.

Hopefully enough to last me 4 weeks as the crime fiction  are all by authors I've read before so should be readable.

Below are the books brought home last month. I only read four, flicked through 3 and the rest went back unread. Details of those I read are on the Books Read 2024 page.

  1. I thought of you. I was watching a true crime program while our supper was baking. Tim came in as I was pulling the pie out of the oven. He went back to put his crossbow away, saying, "I don't understand why you watch that stuff!" as he passed the television. I said, "the news is too upsetting..."

He looked at me like I was crazy.

    1. Thank you for the early morning smile.
The thing about crime fiction compared to real life news is that in crime fiction they always lock up the bad guy in the end!

  2. We have to pay for library reservations here so I have to limit myself to what's on the shelves mostly. Maeve

    1. I dread the day reservation charges are re-introduced in our Suffolk libraries and pray it never happens

  3. Library services are constantly under threat it seems. They're a lifeline for so many.

  4. I've just finished another JD Kirk book, and enjoy them. A nice unchallenging read. I've only just rejoined the library, after many years in the wilderness! No charags for reservations here but it seems there is never any money in the budget for Libraries and Museums and the two are currently being combined in Llandod . . . Museum will only be upstairs rooms now so much lost - just about all of the big collection of Trilobites and rock samples etc (which I have to say, don't rock my boat anyway).

    1. Could have sworn I'd read JD Kirk before but can't find any note of one so might be a new author after all.

  5. I enjoy looking at your choices and what you didn’t read. I am re-reading Black Water Lily for my Readers’ Group but definitely not a bedtime read! Catriona

    1. Surprised at how few I'd read from last months haul. My reading has been well down lately but winter reading will be more again

  6. We have to pay to reserve books here so I don't bother, but if you read a lot it's cheaper than buying books that might end up in the charity shop.

    1. I hope we don't have to pay to reserve books ever again - I would have to be more careful

  8. I love to read also, Sue. Lately, though, I've started books and then didn't continue which I usually don't do. They were about politics in the U.S. and after our disappointing election, I just couldn't stand it. I'm back to the mystery genre which is my favorite.

    1. I can quite see how books about politics wouldn't be good reading

  9. Nothing better than true crime, or fictional crime that reads like true crime. Enjoy your books.

    God bless.
