Another Quiet Week in Suffolk

Such a shame the weather changed so much for Bank Holiday events last Sunday and Monday, it became wet, windy and very chilly. I spent most of the time at home watching the finals of the World Championship snooker on TV, sorting blog posts and reading.

On Monday I just popped out to see what was happening at a May Fayre in a nearby village, but it was too cold to hang around to watch the Haughley Hoofers Clog dancing group do their thing outside the old Maypole pub - closed now - like so many other village pubs that survived for hundreds of years until recently.

They were gathering ready................

Just a few stalls - people were shivering and hanging onto their gazebos!

Called in a BiL's on the way home to see if he'd had any luck sorting my wheelbarrow with a new tyre. He had, but I can't fit it in my car to bring home, so will hope he can deliver it back to me sometime.

Had  a much needed hair cut, it was getting thick and untidy - again. Price has gone up - again, like everything else, because they have to cover their rising business rates and electric etc etc.

Shopping to Aldi and Asda as usual and I found another frozen veggie bake thing to try - you'd think after all the not-so-good 'vegetarian taste tests' that I'd give up, but I'm always hopeful. I also got cook from frozen Aldi Lamb Shanks, someone mentioned these were good, and I like meat now and again. I can make each shank feed me for two meals which will cut the cost.

 I headed out of town via the Co-op for desiccated coconut - not stocked in Aldi or Asda but I thought Co-op would have some and they did. I want to make coconut biscuits as a change from peanut, my basic biscuit recipe is getting used more often as it's much cheaper and better than buying biscuits. Co-op had loads of empty shelves - supply issues it said, probably connected with the huge problems some supermarkets have had with hackers getting into their systems.

The weather looks much better for the weekend but I'm not sure what's happening  except for the other Mid Suffolk D C compost giveaway, which I reckon will be even busier with a longer queue than the previous one. I may go, depends what time I get up! Then car-boot sales of course and it's about time I had the first whippy ice-cream of the season. The ice cream man is always at the boot sales but usually after I've gone home.

More snooker on TV this week with the Seniors World Championship and now we can say, as they used to say about policemen "He doesn't look old enough to be a Pope!" must be the first time there's been one younger than me!  

Tomorrow is the 11th, marking seven years since Colin died - no idea where those years have gone. I'm still coping - mostly OK, sometimes not, but I don't dwell on those days.
