The June Library Book Photo

10  Books that I had reserved were collected from the mobile library van yesterday.

As usual most are crime fiction.

Best of the bunch will be The Consequence of Fear, the most recent offering from Jacqueline Winspear. The two by Alys Clare are her most recent in two different series. There are two more British Library Crime Classics, one by Mary Kelly and the other by Marie Belloc Lowndes. The authors Stuart Pawson and Anthony Horowitz are both authors I've tried to read before and for whatever reason haven't got into them - and I may not again this time.

Then 3 non-fiction. At the bottom of the pile is The Garden farmer by Francine Raymond which I've borrowed before but can't remember anything about it. Afloat by Danie Couchman is about living on board a narrow boat and finally I'm really looking forward to Josie George - A Still Life which has had several good reviews on blogs.

The books I've read in the last few weeks are all listed on the separate  Books Read 2021 page.

The Two Eldest Grandchildren

Oldest Grandson J. was 5 last week and my oldest Granddaughter  F. is 5 in October. They don't get to meet up often as Grandson is down in Surrey.
On Sunday Eldest Daughter and Grandson came up to stay for a few days. Youngest daughter came over on Tuesday with Granddaughter so there was lots of giggling and being as silly as two 5 year olds can be. I zoomed out first thing for a hosepipe and a cheap paddling pool as the forecast was hot and it didn't take long for them to be dashing in and out.
But later they settled down for some drawing and colouring in the shade.

The lovely thing about living in this village is we could all walk to the playground for some climbing and sliding and get an icecream from the shop on our way home.

And thank goodness for my new dishwasher so I didn't have to spend time washing up after cooking us all lunch - I never ever thought I would have a dishwasher - but have soon seen the benefits!

Last Sunday's Car Boot Sale

Bank Holiday Sunday and a very busy car boot sale,  as always there was loads of stuff and toys and then even more stuff and ornaments!

I didn't spend much but it was a bit more than several weeks recently as I found 4 things............A Fantastic Mr Fox dressing up set for £2. Thought this would be handy for Jacob for the next World Book Day - if he needs to dress up for school. A new teether for the baby due in the Autumn £1. The River Cottage Preserves book which I've probably had before and sold (duh) but at 50p I thought I'd have another look  and finally something I didn't expect to find - a brand new photo frame with room for 5 photos which set me back £3 - ready for when the new arrival will make 5 grandchildren. I've been very lucky as the one I had when there was 3 grandchildren and the one I have now with 4 apertures both came from boot sales too.

It was a lovely sunny morning walking round but even with more car-boots and  things to look at  I was still home in time for breakfast.
