Were the Carboot Bargains Useful?

A couple of years ago when someone said my house must be full of car boot stuff that I'd squirrelled away, I looked back through old posts to remind me of  what I'd bought - and if the things had been used...........they had, so it was OK .........I wasn't turning into a hoarder!

Seems there were fewer finds this year than other years but I'm filling a post by doing it again.........

The six year old coffee that tasted fine from a March boot sale, later broke the glass bit of the cafeteria when I accidently knocked it into the sink.

Grandchildren things and plastic food bags. The pie dishes turned out to be too big for one meal but too small for two and I gave them to a charity shop.

Cards and a vase - all useful - the vase has my Christmas bunch of flowers at the moment.

More cards........

A Portmeirion vase, this is a dust collector but I forgive it as it's pretty!

The little print I found, then later found a frame for it, also from car-boot. It's up on the 'art wall'

The very useful flour storage which is storing flour!

Christmas wrapping paper, food bags, gloves and a puzzle - I got cross with the puzzle ! and gave it to DiL.
The other stuff is all useful.

And the final things from earlier this month at the one-off December car-boot. We pulled 3 of the crackers Christmas Day and Granddaughter tried the racing sleighs inside.

I'm quite surprised...................not many things found at all.

Still good fun to look round - you never know what treasures are at a car-boot sale.

First boot sales in 2025 will probably be in March, last year they were late starting due to all the wet weather and flooding. Not so wet this winter............. so far.

Back Tomorrow

  2. I miss the many and varied car boot sales we used to go to when we lived in Carms. Here we have two summer-only ones in Hereford (been to them once and won't bother again, plus they're 45 miles away!) and one nearly as far in Madley, which isn't very good for the likes of me - lots of pink plastic toys and clothing and niknaks of the like you see unwanted in Charity Shops. Keith and I sold at it a few times, but I would rather go to Malvern Flea each month.

At least most of your car boot finds have been useful.

  3. Village Yard sales seem to be becoming more popular around here. Post Christmas I shall declutter some more to the CS. l am not that fussed about making money for myself, and now the Hospice has opened a shop nearby, I shall take my goods there

    1. I found it very hard work doing a boot sale on my own. And I don't have much stuff to get rid of now - so it's charity shops for me now.

  4. You would think there would be indoor carboot sales in winter. I have been to a few in cattle marts.

    1. There are some down south in Surrey where my Daughter lives but nothing around here. We dont have any cattle marts or indoor car parks or anything similar

  6. I've not been to a single car boot sale this year, so no purchases for me to report on. We've not sold at any either, instead I have been donating things to the children's hospice charity shop which is near our Booths. It's good to see that virtually all your finds were good ones and well used.

  7. I think I should probably attend a car boot sale to sell stuff, we binned quite a lot pre Xmas but I still have an awful lot of unwanteds that other folk might find useful.

    1. It's hard work doing a boot sale alone and I'm not sure I could get moving early enough now!

  8. I love car boot sales. I also love your self control. I have a tendency to see something and fall in love with it no matter how impractical it is. I've gotten better about it.

  9. My friend and I hit resale shops whenever we get together. We have traveled to many of the towns in our area and are always finding new shops to check out! I think the best thing I learned from you was to look for greeting cards as I always stock up on those now when I see them cheap at the resale shops. So handy and saves lots of $$ as new greeting cards have gotten so expensive! Thanks, Sue, for that tip! :)

  10. You always find useful items at car boot sales.
Summer and Fall yard sales used to be common near me. Now it is estate sales where the entire content of the house is priced. These are run professionally and usually quite pricey. Most run for 3 days and only the last day offers deals.
