The weather forecast for today sounds so good that I decided to visit Col yesterday when it was cloudy................ and then I could have a sunny day at home getting on with jobs.
First I want to bring a wheelbarrow load of compost from the lovely heap Mrs F left us and mix it with multi-purpose and grow-bags to start filling some pots.
Need to do this today as I was tempted by 6 Strawberry plants for £2.99 at Aldi. I've already got 3 plants that I found here........squashed into 1 small pot and some more coming free with the gooseberry bushes......soon I hope.
The other pots will hold tomatoes, peppers, cucumber and aubergines, not so urgent to get them filled.
Then I'm going to find a wire brush and start to clean down the woodwork
on the greenhouse ready to give it a coat of wood preservative. I'm not
too fussed about getting it perfect as I figure anything will help it
last longer.
And if I have time I'll finish clearing the last veg bed.
Then I really must write letters to friends who are without internet at present.
Phew.
Hospital news............... Day one..............so far, so good.
Back Soon
Sue
Sue I really admire your work ethic...though not without your turmoils you are busying yourself and doing positive things...I'd like to think I could do the same but possibly I'd just want to hide in a cupboard. Well done! x
ReplyDeleteI'm happiest with a list of things to get done.Too dark in cupboards!
DeleteI'm glad you will have good weather today so that you can get your jobs done. We have rain-x-
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't quite as warm as they forecast but a lovely day - I expect we will get that rain tomorrow and you will be sunny
DeleteHang on a minute you have good weather? Ours is horrible! I do like your greenhouse, I could just see myself sitting in one like that with flask at hand potting thing up.
ReplyDeleteGot my shorts out- frightened the painter!
DeleteYou sound like you an enjoyable day in the garden and probably found it relaxing as well as physically tiring. Was Col jealous that you were out in the fresh air? Must be frustrating for him.
ReplyDeleteI've had a good day today achieved as much as possible. Poor Col is stuck in a hot stuffy ward.
DeleteGosh, makes me tired just reading about it!
ReplyDeleteI should sleep well tonight ZZZZZZZZZZZ
DeleteGood news about day one for col.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see your growing area, you have a nice size plot.
Very low dose of the drug and loads of hydration - should be OK we hope
DeleteNice to read about the day-one good news. Nothing like getting out in the sun and doing a bit of gardening. Snowing here today, but we can dream!
ReplyDeleteHugs
Jane

Deleteso far so good - and may Col continue to flourish with your garden.
ReplyDeleteI just love growing some of our own food again
DeleteGlad day 1 has gone well. I was thinking about both of you as I was out walking.
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how soothing a garden can be and how full of promise especially in spring when there are buds bursting everywhere but not too many weeds.
Best wishes to you both and thanks for letting us know. Sue
Thank you for thinking about us it's good to know.
DeleteThere were plenty of weeds on the beds left from last year, but all cleared for growing now
nice to see you back growing and planning again, hope Col will soon be home to enjoy the garden with you
ReplyDeleteSo pleased to read that day 1 went well, and that you've been busy with the garden and that lovely greenhouse.
ReplyDeleteHi Sue, I have just been catching up with your blog and Colin's treatment. Such a worrying time for you both. I so hope these new tablets do the trick. Best wishes to you both. Gardening is such good therapy and your new plot looks great!
ReplyDeleteJane
Our snow is almost gone, and I am itching to get my hands in the dirt.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to Col (and you of course).
God bless.
It's a lovely day here too today, Sue, after yesterday's torrential rain. The garden is calling and I can't wait til later in the afternoon when I'll go outside and start rejuvenating my veggie bed while the soil is still nice and moist from yesterday's rain. All the best to Col for the days to come. Meg:)
