The tree is down, the decorations are down, winter has replaced Christmas on the top of the bookshelf and Christmas has been put back in its box. I had a sort out of tree decorations and decided some that I'd not used for a while will be next years tree trimmings......if I remember.
I love the January Country Diary plate - one of the best .
Almost forgot I'd bought myself a cheap treat for gloomy winter afternoons in January. When I bought two boxes of wafer rolls from Poundland (although they were £2) for the sisters hampers several weeks before Christmas I got an extra one for me and the mini marshmallows came out of the reduced out-of-date box at Grape Tree.(There are a lot of things that are fine when out of date and something that's mainly all sugar will certainly be OK) The squirty cream was bought for boxing day but didn't even get opened .
Very Yum!
(Also good for winter days ..... Countdown Champion of Champions is back on TV for 3 weeks and Silent Witness back for a series)
Back Tomorrow
Sue
Happy New Year. It sounds like you are ready for gloomy January days.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
The way the days fly by January will soon pass
DeleteHappy New Year! I love that plate. It really is gorgeous. I have lots of hot chocolate for my winter days. I don't drink tea (gasp!) or coffee so a nice hot chocolate or cup-a-soup make a nice change.
ReplyDeleteIt was the first time I'd really looked at the plate and thought it a really pretty one
DeleteHot milky cocoa with whipped cream and little marshmallows floating around the surface is so decadent and so delicious, and one of my little winter treats on a miserable night :)
ReplyDeleteI've been enjoying my afternoon mocha with all the trimmings!
DeleteWhat beautiful decor! And yay for finding special treats! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteJust something small for January
DeleteVery yum indeed - delicious hot drinks coming up!! xx
ReplyDeleteIts delicious with the added extras
DeleteChristmas put away here too. On my way to Brecon last week there was a Hazel tree absolutely golden with tassles - the only one though. The others and the Alders are still thinking about it.
ReplyDeleteI've not noticed any catkins here but that might be because it keeps raining and I've not walked anywhere for weeks!
DeleteOoh.. I am trying to wean myself off the chocolate treats we had for Christmas. I dare not step on the bathroom scales just yet.
ReplyDeleteA Mocha with all the extras will have to finish before too long!
DeleteHappy New Year - the plate is gorgeous and goes well with your winter display. Enjoy your winter treats. x
ReplyDeleteThey are very tasty
DeleteThe little cottage is my favourite part of the January display. Enjoy your yummy treats-I have never seen those wafer rolls before (thank goodness). Catriona
ReplyDeleteI decided it could stay out a bit longer after Christmas
DeleteA gorgeous Winter display and yummy treats for a cold night, who could ask for more ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't watch countdown but I do like Silent Witness & Call the Midwife, both new series :)
Can't watch Call The Midwife it makes me cry too much!
DeleteI stayed up and watched Shawshank last night….bawled my eyes out as usual
DeleteHappy New Year Sue.
ReplyDeleteThank You and to you all the way south in Devon
DeleteThat plate is beautiful. So are those treats, though I'm not looking, not looking, not looking . . . . . . .
ReplyDeleteIt's back to plain meals for me but there's still a small Christmas Pudding with Brandy in the cupboard. I had one last night with double cream (I really should only have bought a small pot of cream because it's use by date is today.) Hmmm . . . Corn Flakes with cream and a sprinkle of sugar? ? Cream in my coffee???
Trust your nose not the date. It will go on for days after the use by date.
DeleteNo Christmas Pud here but lots of cake left and I'm finding it too sweet
DeleteLove the winter display. I've got an unopened can of squirty cream and some special hot choc sachets - no marshmallows but some chocolate flake would make a nice alternative topping. I also have a real weakness for those wafer rolls, I didn't realise the pound stores did them - probably just as well!
ReplyDeleteAlison in Wales x
I think the wafer rolls were a one-off in Poundland they had all gone weeks before Christmas
DeleteI very much like the framed photo of the hare you have in the background. (or is that a rabbit?
ReplyDeleteLino cut print of a Hare - had it for several years now
DeleteHappy New Year, Sue. Xx
ReplyDeleteThank you
DeleteYour snowy winter display is lovely. I miss not seeing snow outside. A nice mocha with all the extra toppings sounds perfect for a winter afternoon.
ReplyDeleteWe could get some here any time up to April but it's really mild at the moment
DeleteI'm looking forward to seeing all your new plate collection month by month as they appear. This one is beautiful. Happy New Year. xx
ReplyDeleteThat plate is gorgeous. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly one of the best of the 12
DeleteWell, go you Sue! Bring on the dull hot chocolate with toppings days we usually get!! x
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying the extras - but they'll soon run out!
