Thank you to everyone for the New Year wishes yesterday , apologies for not replying, had to go to son and DiLs again to help them eat their leftover food! Youngest Granddaughter and Middle Grandson were much less hyper - just totally exhausted from a week of being busy! They do far more than we ever did when our children were small.
Also Hello and Welcome to people who've clicked the follower button recently - hope you enjoy reading.
The rest of this post I'm writing just so I can label it "Christmas Hamper Gifts". Then I'll know where to find it next Autumn when I start making things!
It was a mention of Roast Garlic Chutney on someone's blog that made me need to write myself a reminder to look up a recipe. Then I came across a note I'd made in the back of the 2022 diary for Honey, Apple and Mustard Chutney just the name - no details ...............not got the foggiest where that idea came from - another one to research.
And then Sister in Law asked if I wanted the hamper basket back from the 2022 hamper. So I'm getting organised for 2023's gifts already!
Back Tomorrow

At least give yourself a few days before you start thinking of next Christmas. There's plenty of time for that. Have a safe and happy 2023.
ReplyDeleteThe years rush by as I get older
DeleteNothing wrong with planning ahead!I do miss chutney making - it really peeves me when I have to PAY for a jar of chutney from the shops now! My asthma reacts so badly to the vinegar fumes though, I have to stick to jam these days.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not worth it as it affects your health.
DeleteI've had some positive comments about the apple&ginger chutney I gave as gifts this year. My cousin in Essex asked if he could have another jar!
ReplyDeleteAnother idea for the autumn!
DeleteThis post has made me feel hungry!
ReplyDeleteOoops sorry!
DeleteI use the nice gift bags for my food hampers, and everyone has returned their bags back to me, to reuse this year.
ReplyDeleteThat's handy. over the years I've used baskets from boot sales, jute shoppers or boxes covered with wrapping paper.
DeleteGood for you. Me too, with knitting mittens and I have also found some more sock patterns. Making gifts feels a great way to continue using up my yarn stash. I wonder if I could get it down to using up just one shelf of space.
ReplyDeleteChutney/preserves are great gifts and they have a long shelf life too. Very useful. xx
Keep knitting!
DeleteWow, you're organised, already thinking of next Christmas. Good idea though.

DeleteI gave a Christmas hamper to some of my kids this year but everything was store bought. It still was a hit and I put it in reusable grocery bags so they liked that. Thanks for the Christmas hamper idea, Sue!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear your family enjoyed the hamper idea
DeleteHappy New Year to you, Sue. After all the traumas we went through with presents this year, being let down with providers, et cetera, we've all decided we're just going to send a small token gift and that will be it. I've already started making my cards though.
ReplyDeleteI love the hamper idea. I'm going to use it myself this year. (Writes note to self.) :)
ReplyDeleteI hope the chutney recipes will be shared. We love it but I have never attempted to make it and want tested ones. We can only get the mango one in the grocery store in our backwoods of Canada.
ReplyDeleteWe also gave hampers to our sons-in-law for the first time instead of the old tried and tested alcohol. They’re both drinking far less and it felt more sensible to give nice food. They really seemed to like the change.
ReplyDeleteI love chutney, even on dairy free cheese is is absolutely delicious. And the Garlic Jam/chutney is gorgeous, your relatives will love you for it ... if you can find a good recipe.
ReplyDeleteYou just can't go wrong with a good hamper...especially one with homemade goodies tucked in it. x
