Saturday 22nd

Thank you everyone for comments yesterday. I've been to 114 churches in Suffolk now, small and large. Framlingham is one of the largest but it's not one of my favourites - it's a bit too 'posh' for me!

There was snow last Saturday evening, which was a surprise. It was mostly gone by Sunday morning.

Then, thank goodness, some sunshine for a few hours this week - it was so exciting! Also a degree or two warmer but it quickly went back to grey and dismal again on Thursday. Temperatures are set to fall back to cold and frosty next week - no sign of spring yet and the daffodils on the edge of the churchyard have been in bud stage for weeks. <<<<sigh>>>>!

February jigsaw finished, all present and correct. It was a good one to do.

I've sealed it up, labelled it 'Complete Feb 2025' and just need to decide if I'll do a car-boot sale or donate it. That's the last puzzle I'll do until next October. Car boots sales on the horizon and gardening too and I want to get my scrapbooks out onto the table now.

During the week my cousin phoned to tell me his Mum, my 100 year old Aunt - had died. The last of the older generation of the family, she had outlived my Mum, the next eldest of 6 children by 26 years. She'd lived at home until a couple of years ago but was in a care home but still very 'with it' right until the end.
So I must gear myself up to go to a funeral, which will be the first I've been to since Colin's in 2018. BiL seems to go to funerals every other month - he knows so many people.

Spot Wellbeing, the CIC (Community Interest Company) who started our Keep Moving Exercise Group over 2 years ago are running a six week course in a nearby village, so I went along with a list of the exercises we do to check they are all OK. John, who is one of the physios said it all sounded good and has promised to come along next week to give us a look. That will be helpful.

All in all a very quiet week waiting for spring.

Back Next Week
Sue

  1. I think we are all waiting for spring! I’m fed up with this damp, dismal, dull weather! And we have a weather warning for tomorrow ! Lovely! 😆

    1. The weather forecast for here might not be as cold as they thought for the coming week - I'm hopeful

  2. I think that many of us feel the same, Sue. Just biding our time, waiting for spring. Xx

  4. I feel that I am treading water waiting for Spring and longer days coming. We have another weather warning for tomorrow so no point in tidying the garden today. Catriona

  5. Five funerals in as many months here, all close and necessary to attend. Each in their own way conducted very sensitively by the celebrants, and in each we discovered rich layers of a life we didn't know about.

    1. I missed out on one - couldn't face going but I will really need to attend this one

  6. It's great that all the pieces of your jigsaw were there, phew. That is a nice looking jigsaw too. I feel cheated out of the warmer weather that 'everyone' was promising us. It just didn't happen, and now we are in a yellow weather warning for all of tomorrow, just as we head back to Manchester following the route of the rain and wind.

  8. I'm not patient enough for puzzles. It's an odd awareness when the last of a generation passes on. When my aunt died in 2017 at 95, I truly felt the complete loss of my parents.

  9. Sounds like your Aunt had a good, long life. Hope you have a happy time sharing memories at the funeral. I don't get to see my cousins often but we always have a lot of laughs over the past when we do get together.

    1. Only 5 cousins left on this part of the family and probably only a couple will be at the funeral

  11. Your photo showing snow is quite beautiful. Many years ago, I was in England for Christmas and the daffodils were blooming among a light snow. I'd never seen that before.
I'm sorry for your loss. Your Aunt, at 100, being the last of a generation is a big milestone. Seeing your cousin and sharing family memories is always good at times of loss.
Winter cold and snow/ice continues in MA. Spring seems very far away, but it will come, and we'll see rebirth. I can't wait!

    1. Seems to have been a long wait for spring this year, but it's always like this in February

  12. Sorry to hear about your Aunt.
At least you can see the daffodils lol. I'm hoping the ones in the woods near me have survived another year. They are still buried under lots of snow! It's supposed to be a bit warmer this week - temps finally above freezing so maybe some of that snow will melt!

  13. No snow here, thankfully - unless it came at night and I missed it. It's been very chilly though, what with the damp and the wind.

I'm sorry about your aunt - she sounds a fantastic character. xx
