After yesterdays look at interesting buildings in the town here's just one more photo of a shop in Eye......
Eye might have lost it's banks and post office recently but it has gained a charity shop.
This is the Home Start charity shop - I always pop in whenever I'm visiting or passing through the town. I wonder why they have no signage - I'd not noticed that until looking at the photo.
Of course I went in when I was doing the walk and photos for yesterdays post and came out with two things, birthday card for one of the Grandsons - there are still two under 6. Plus the Barbara Pym book which was a super find as it's one recently reprinted by Virago Modern Classics and one I've not read......£2 total spend.
Hoping for a Chinese takeaway and another pop into the charity shop sometime in the not too distant future.
Back Soon
Sue
Great finds there. Enjoy the book . . . xx
ReplyDeleteHandy for the shelf ready for when I run out of library books
DeleteYou found some bargains there! Eye looks to be an interesting place. I once stayed just outside Eye, in farmhouse accommodation..this was years ago! Was very pleasant. Have a good day.😁
ReplyDeleteOpen countryside all around the town, except for the huge factories on the old airfield north of Eye
DeleteHaving just read Chris's post on a visit to the optician's I was briefly confused by the title of your post... we used to live near Eye.... in Cambridgeshire!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they are the only two places called Eye in England, I shall investigate
DeleteI went to the opticians yesterday so was expecting something to do with eyes.-silly me. Great finds. Catriona
ReplyDeleteSorry - just the town!
DeleteAre you aware of the online library, accessible through borrow box. I love it as our local libraries are closed on the days I have off, and reading on the old iPad I can enlarge the text. I can also read in bed without having a light on disturbing himself! X
ReplyDeleteI rarely have a shortage of physical library books - brought to me every month!
DeleteA nice friendly shop. I parked outside, as in the picture, and the lady came out and told me where to park for Linden House, which was less than 5 minutes away and I had missed it. I then went in and browsed before moving the car. I wish the Barbara Pym book had been there that day.
ReplyDeleteIt was unusual to find anything I wanted in the shop.
DeleteThat's a scary birthday card ... just perfect for a six year old. My great grandson would love it, he's six too and would be playing at being a shark for hours after opening it, he has a very vivid imagination. We were about to lose our last bank in May, but our local MP has headed a campaign and we are to get a banking hub instead. Five different banks will share the old Nat West branch and they have been persuaded to stay open until it's all ready to launch. Phew!!
ReplyDeleteBanks have even gone from the big towns so no hope for small towns around here.
DeleteA hub bank would have been perfect for so many towns - probably too late now.
You are so good at finding bargains, Sue. And it helps a good cause, too. Well done!
ReplyDeleteMostly I find nothing - so it was a good day to find these.
DeleteLove going to thrift stores. Usually don’t find much, but enjoy browsing. Cali
ReplyDeleteThere might be treasure hidden - that's the enjoyable bit
DeleteGoing to thrift stores is something that I really enjoy. I am very choosy about bringing anything home, knowing that I've got a big downsizing coming, but it is fun to look, and sometimes I do find something amazing that absolutely does need to come home.
ReplyDeleteLot's of things went out of the house when I downsized and I mustn't find too many things to replace them!
DeleteOne thing I loved about England was the number of Charity shops. We have a few -- sort of chains, if you will. Goodwill, Salvation Army, St. Vincent -- but nothing like where you have shops for hospice or cat care or heart care or whatever.
ReplyDeleteI love charity shops. Wherever my friend and I go we find one or two, or more!
ReplyDeleteGreat finds.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
