Saturday (almost a)Freebie

Thanks to everyone for comments on Saturday - my 12 days of Christmas treats plan seems to be a good idea - although they had better not all be edible treats! .

Over the weekend I've had trouble connecting to the internet and seem to have to go all round the houses to get a connection. In fact my laptop says I'm not connected even now. BT asks me to log in every time but my log in details are not recognised. SO if I should disappear that will be why. I hope I don't vanish, as the internet is my lifeline as it is for so many other people who are on their own.

I don't usually go into town on a Saturday but that's how things worked out this week.

And it was a useful trip because there was a stall in the market place with a man giving away (for £1) Saturday's East Anglian Daily Times, Friday's Evening Star, a bag of crisps, a bag of popcorn and a carton of water.

This looks rather like the bags they give away (for£1) at the Suffolk Show every year - but that was (or should have been) back in May and the crisps weren't that old!

It was handy because Saturdays EADT has the TV programmes for the week and double the puzzle pages and is usually £1.90.

Back Tomorrow - if I can find a way online again

Sue

  1. What a useful nearly freebie! And my fingers are crossed for your connection. Quite apart from the crucial contact/lifeline function, what would our days be without your posts?

  2. Might be worth a call to BT to see what’s going on. Drives me mad paying for yet not fully receiving services paid for.

  4. What was the story Sue, did you enquire as you placed your pound into his hand?

A result as they say in Saarf London!

  5. BT has gone beyond. My phone has been intermittent since April, all through lockdown, and they kept blaming me. They wanted £85 call out fee. Eventually I had to agree as I need my phone, so, last week they finally sent someone to sort it and it is their fault after all!

  6. That’s my kind of a bargain Sue. Think we will be needing some kind of a treat every day this week here where I live, going to be rough, wet and windy weather all week. Not that I’m complaining, don’t mind staying indoors and plenty to occupy me. No, not housework!

    1. The forecast doesn't look too good for the west of the country - remains of a hurricane tomorrow they said - bit dryer over here in the East

  7. A brilliant 'almost freebie' and well worth a pound of anyone's money.

It may the internet in general because I have had a very bad weekend for internet connection and I'm not with BT. possibly something to do with the weather, the clouds have been astonishing and the rain torrential.

  9. Thank you for the cheese scone idea in one of your earlier posts. I found a recipe on Pinterest and made them last night to go with the canelli bean soup recipe I have. We each had two they were so good. Left two out for another round of soup and froze the rest.

  10. The paper and freebies was a great bargain. I always bought the weekend paper because of the puzzles etc but I can't justify £2. I hope you sort your Broadband, it was horrendous when I didn't have it for 3 weeks and I had to use my dats to piggy back my laptop!

  14. Lovely freebie. I am sure you enjoyed the puzzles and the crisps (what we call chips here in Canada).

    God bless.

  15. When my connection kept dropping I thought it must be my laptop. I even bought a new one. Same kept happening. Eventually got helpful young man who checked the tracking record and agreed with me that it was dropping too much and got it tweaked at the exchange. That was BT. All was then well. So bear in mind that internet connection dropping can be exchange fault.
