Q is for Questions

I'm getting lazy with this A-Z thing, so for Q........................

Ask me a Question.................... (not the sort that are on University Challenge or Mastermind please!)

I'll come back later and answer them ..............if I can.

    1. I don't really know that I am. I just get on with things - whatever happens

  2. Do you ever have days when you don’t speak to anyone at all. If so, does this bother you or do you just get on with chores or read a book? Thanks. Sandra.

    1. Yes there are lots of days when I don't speak to anyone and more days when I only say hello in passing someone on a walk or thank you to someone serving me in a shop
It doesn't bother me at all

  3. What a good idea.
    My question is:
What made you move to Suffolk originally and what is your favourite thing (or things) about the county? xx

My question is what is the best piece of advice anyone ever gave you and did you follow it?

  11. Do you make plans for each day or just decide to do things as the mood takes you? I find being retired that more and more I maybe make a plan the night before but then when I wake up decide to do something completely different!

    1. I have a list of things that need doing - so I don't forget - but when I do them is up to me and the weather. It also depends on whats in the diary like swimming or the new exercise group or a village coffee morning. Housework is very haphazard .....as and when

  15. This open question reminds me of a time I was doing a fiber art residency, working on spinning and other arts. The deal was that I'd answer any question while I was at the public location working. The assumption being that questions would relate to the work in progress.

Until a young woman came up and said "Do you think it's right for parents to prefer one of their children to the others?". Which goes to show you can be surprised. That said, I don't have a question for you, just a hope your readers stick to realistic queries!

  16. A Q&A is such a pleasant exchange. It is almost like sitting with you for a coffee or tea and scone and having a chat. What are your plans for the garden next year? As for me, I am selecting a few new trees for purchase in the Spring. Persian Parrotia and Oregon Vine Maple. Both trees will add Fall color to my landscape. I'd also like to grow a peach tree but know I would have to totally enclose it with netting during the fruit bearing season. The peach tree is pending.

    1. Plans for the garden are to finally dig a mini pond, to grow as much food as I can fit in again but no onions and more beans. To try and keep the shrub/flower bed out the front tidy, work out what to do - if anything- with the path down the side of the house and to do something with the area where the oil tank stood before I had a new one.

  17. Q is for Quilts! Have you ever made a quilt or owned an antiquuuuuue one. Would you like to make a quilt, sew for a hobby?
PS off topic I love your book and nature posts. Just bought a very used Autumn Flower Fairies book, decrepit but so sweet w leaves still pressed inside. Sadly where I live I see not one of these berry and nut ''flowers". Thanks for wonderful inspiring posts.
And crime reading: have you ever read LJ Ross DCI Ryan series. Northumberland. Good series if somewhat too gruesome at times.

    1. Although I love seeing quilts people have made, the craft has never appealed to me.
How good that you found a Flower Fairy book and with leaves pressed inside is so special.
I've not read that author, although I know they are very popular I'm not keen on books that are too gruesome

  18. This is a clever choice for the letter Q. Are you saving up blog ideas for when you finish with the alphabet?

    1. That's hard, really hard.
I thought about which books would be the hardest to replace, so I'd have to take the Huge Family Bible.
Then Few Eggs and No Oranges by Vere Hodgson (wartime diary) as it's a large diary that I've not re-read for ages.
And probably Hovel in the Hills by Elizabeth West as I love re-reading it

  22. Brilliant questions ... and answers too :-)

I'll be pinching the idea soon (I hope you don't mind) as I haven't had a good Q&A blogpost for ages, and I have lots of new readers that keep asking similar questions.

My question is 'Have you ever joined a Book Club?' And then after writing that I suddenly thought ... maybe we should start a blog one for next year.

    1. No, never joined a book club or reading group - I'm not sure I'd want to read what someone "told" me to read!
