BP was sky high but it's always gone up and down at random. I ought to go and get it checked out at the doctors, especially as I only have one kidney. Weight was Too Much - knew that, blood sugars OK, cholesterol a teeny bit high. Heart age 68 which is what I will be in April. Oh well. I still reckon it will be cancer that sees me off in the end- there was so much of it on both sides of the family.

turns out they are going to "facilitate" the group for 12 weeks, provide refreshments but won't lead the exercise. So we followed some instructions on a piece of paper -read out by one of the "old Men". We all had to sign a disclaimer!
I really wonder why there are all these different groups, which overlap in places. Where does the funding come from and why not add all the funding together and join all the organisations together and save money on websites and printing.
Mine is not to reason why!
I brought the Christmas tree box in from the garage, fitted it altogether and got it decorated with all the silver bits, which hadn't been out of the box for many years, then the green things and when that wasn't really enough I added red as well. Over the 40+ years of decorating a Christmas tree I've gathered all sort of dangling things, some are quite old now, several are home made but the majority have come from charity shops and Christmas Fayres.
The photo is awful - it looks better in real life and in the dark! But it'll do.
I got as far as getting a wee 3 ft (table top, to avoid kittens) pretend tree this week. Have yet to get it out of the box though. Yours looks nice and I hope it's made you feel Christmassy.

DeleteI love family Christmas trees dangling with crazy eclectic ornaments collected down the years. They tell a REAL story. I can't be doing with "carefully curated matching baubles" - often bought in specially ("this year our theme is taupe and Rose gold...")
ReplyDeleteI've got things that are red, gold, silver, green and wood/natural but have had most forever. Must be the turn for the wood etc next year

DeleteI have a similar problem with high bp. But and this is important, we are all still living ;) so don't worry too much. Your tree looks lovely, but take it at night with the lights on. Now I wonder how much electricity Xmas trees use?

DeleteI understand, but could be wrong, that exercise is good for BP. With gardening, cycling and swimming I'm surprised that your BP is cause for concern. Mine always used to be good, but is now high too and is under control with medication.
ReplyDeleteChristmas trees should be green with lots of colourful ornaments to make them interesting. Both my husband and I are hopeless and don't have much patience decorating the tree, but we muddle through okay.
I'm lacking in patience for trimming the tree too - no artistic flair at all!

DeleteYour Christmas tree looks great. I'm still adding ornaments to my tree as well. I stand back and see another spot for an ornament. With boxes of ornaments to use, I can add as much as I like. Upon waking each morning, I turn on the Christmas tree lights...I love Christmas. Your community health programs sound very good. Knowing all the vital health numbers allows us to make small lifestyle adjustments and improve (after Christmas) if we choose.

No matching designer tree here either.Our tree has beautiful glass baubles lovely people have brought me back from their trips all over the world, mixed with children's hand made decorations,some over 40 years old, and now put together by my grandchildren. From some angles it does have a Dr Seuss like lean but I will not 'fix' it, just enjoy it. Merry Christmas from a cool, wet and windy southern Australia.

ReplyDeletePlease consider a keto or atkins way of eating you will be shocked at how your BP will come down as we were. From 160 to 120 0ver 90 now 80 or less. No exercise needed.

DeletePerhaps like me, you suffer from 'white coat syndrome'. When I have an appointment coming up I take my BP twice a day for a week and they take the average. You can buy a machine for less than £15. My grandson came and got the tree down from the loft and his sister was going to come and trim it up, then she got COVID, so I've had a naked tree standing there for nearly a week! Yours looks lovely!

ReplyDeleteHopefully your blood pressure will come down after a relaxing Christmas, well you can hope, I always do. Like Sally above I always have to do a week of readings before any BP check up to get a picture of what it actually is rather than what is shows itself to be at the surgery. It's high no matter what I do, and every single tablet they have ever tried me on gives me terrible side effects.
I love seeing everyone else's trees. Thank you. I think it looks quite nice!
