Craft Stash Shrinking

I found a few old  Craft Creations decoupage papers at the bottom of the Christmas drawer among some other bits that I've had for years.

I used them up to make 3 cards for Grandchildren for this year, just need to stick on Happy Christmas labels. Then I put everything else into the Charity Shop bag.

More 'stuff' going or gone.

It was interesting yesterday to read all the comments about the three authors mentioned.

I'm just happy to read what I like and leave everything else to others.

Back Tomorrow

  1. Reading is a very personal thing - but if a Blogger I follow regularly reviews a book, it may encourage me to borrow (or avoid) it. Judging people for their reading choices is not helpful - and I think that over the years tastes change. In my teens I devoured every Agatha Christie I could find. Now I find her books less satisfying. But we MUST keep supporting our local libraries so that this free resource remains available, and encouraging the younger generation to develop good reading habits.

    1. My reading has changed a lot since my early days of working in a library. I used to read the big family sagas - they wouldn't suit me now.

Crime fiction always has a proper ending and doesn't make me cry!

    2. Agree completely about supporting the local libraries. I the mobile library that visits my village every three weeks. I could easily pick up my books from a physical building (there is one very close to where we mostly grocery shop). I use the mobile library, however, to keep it going. They keep track of how many people use it and it is always at risk.

I agree that judging people by their reading choices is not at all helpful. Also not helpful to explain to someone that they would enjoy if “only if…”. A bit like saying you will like [pick a food you loathe] only if it was cooked properly.

    1. That's the last of the old 3D papers - just have a few 3D die-cut left

  3. You convinced me to buy two of his books used, on Amazon! Sadly I’m in the US and not to be found here!
    Love the cards!

  6. Agree with Angela reference libraries - it's a use it or lose it thing and the next few years could be critical I'm thinking
Those Christmas cards for the grandchildren are great, you are so organised!

  7. Three lovely cards for the grandchildren, they will be thrilled. Just put them somewhere where you will remember them ... the cards not the kids!!

Reading is very individual and very age specific, I used to read horror stories and mysteries when I was younger then moved on to self sufficiency and recipe books. Some people seemed to get quite judgemental yesterday, sadly. It would be a strange and boring world if we were all the same.

  9. I was hugely amused at people getting passionate about their reading preferences and Sue trying to keep the peace! It's good to care that much, even if you disagree.

I'm a huge supporter and ally of libraries. I get so much value over and above reading, from them. They're an important social hub, too.

  10. I look forward to your car boot sales when you will stock up on some new-to-you craft treats! I was at a resale shop last week and got some gift bags, thank you cards, and a crossword puzzle book. Less than $5 altogether and already put to use! :)

  11. I saved Christmas cards we received over the years and used scrapbooking scissors to cut wavy edges around the pretty scenes on the front. Then I use them as nametags for our son and granddaughter. It's useful and more original than premade tags.

Now that I'm retired I steadily clean out things that have gathered over the years.

  12. Talk about stashes - I have so much paper for card making. As I type this comment my desk here shows that I'm at work making birthday cards. I have three in process and one more to make for Feb birthdays.

  13. I use my library in the US all the time, however I don’t go in person. I download books onto my kindle. What a wonderful feature from my library system!

  14. I do have some papers, but mostly things like yarn, fabric and embroidery/cross stitch stashes.

    God bless.

  15. The cards you make are very nice custom cards. I recently did a big sort and found things I forgot I had. The photos brought back some wonderful memories of living abroad. I filled my Subaru Outback twice and donated many items. I'll just take a tax write-off.
