9 books picked up from the mobile library. They are all books I'd reserved online beforehand but I'm not sure about several so I might be reading from my shelves well before the March mobile visit.
Two more with Winter in their title for Reading The Seasons - if I can get into them and before the end of February and there's only one out of nine that I know will definitely be OK - worrying!
In January I collected these from the van
and these from Stowmarket library because I forgot to alter the pick up point back to the mobile.
I read a dozen books in January, including most of the above as well as some which were left from December, one from my shelves and one from a jumble sale. I reckon 12 books in a month is pretty good going - proves that Just Stay In January was good for reading, as was not feeling too well for a week!
The details of the books I read are on the Books Read 2025 page.....February has got off to a much slower reading pace. I'm watching the original French series Astrid - subtitled of course -- so I can't read at the same time.

Wow 12 books is good! Nice lot of books. I'm still working on the bookshelves. I want to get them sorted and then will start using the library.
ReplyDelete12 in a month is more than I've read for ages so it really was a quiet month.
DeleteThe Stella Gibbons should be good. I love EMDelafield but this one not so much. I'll look forward to your verdict.
ReplyDeleteLong time since I read E M Delafield. I've read a few Stella Gibbons so will see how I get on with these.
DeleteYou did awesome in reading all those books last month. I will look forward to your reviews on this months reading material.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Doubt I will read as many this month, I'll see how I get on.
DeleteThat's a lot of reading -- good for you! I only settle in to read at night before bed. I use and e-reader. I never thought I'd like it, and it was a gift, but now it's a great way to get stuff to read without making any effort. You get points not only for reading but putting forth the effort to acquiring them!
ReplyDeleteI still like holding a real book. I'm not good at concentrating on a screen for too long
DeleteTwelve books in a month is absolutely brilliant. Well done. xx
ReplyDeleteIt looks like all I did was read! especially when I didn't have much energy
DeleteI have loved Shona MacLean’s books and particularly this strand. The Winter List is the final one of six and they’re all worth reading. Also I think she’s an author you can “trust” on the historical elements.
ReplyDeleteThis is a new-to-me author only borrowed as it has Winter in the title for my Reading-The-Seasons thing. I haven't tried it yet - I'll see how I get on
DeleteThe first one is called The Seeker and I loved it! Maybe takes a wee bit to get into but worth it. She’s from the north of Scotland and her first series, and a fairly recent book, The Bookseller of Inverness, are set there. A fan, as you can tell! J’nan
DeleteDo you mostly read fiction? I'm making an effort to read more non-fiction, but it the writing style doesn't suit, I can't get on with the book. I guess that's the same for everyone.
ReplyDeleteAlmost all fiction - especially crime. I used to read a lot of Countryside books but don't now
DeleteDo you have to take the books once you've read them, back to the same place that you picked them up from or will the mobile library take them for you?
ReplyDeleteTwelve books in a month is brilliant, I am happy if I manage between four and six at the moment.
Books can go back to any library in Suffolk including the mobile. If I know they have a waiting list I'll drop them back to town library rather than waiting for the next mobile visit
DeleteI've been reading more, too, as the very cold weather kept me inside more. I've also started doing some cross stitch again. I enjoy it but those "x's" seem to have gotten smaller! ;)
ReplyDeleteIt was doing cross stitch years ago that made me realise I needed reading glasses! I've not done any for a while but have kept all the Aida threads and charts I have
DeleteI decided to follow your example and order a book from our local library. I asked last Wednesday for Patrick Grant’s book Less and collected it today. Catriona
ReplyDeleteMy copy will be waiting for me on the Mobile in March. When Angela at Tracing Rainbows wrote about it I thought it sounded worth a look. Hope we both like it
DeleteYou put me to shame, I've just had to renew my 6 library books as I'm still only on the 2nd one!
ReplyDeleteI really whizzed through books last month - hope you get yours finished
DeleteThe only book I've read from your pile is "So Pretty a Problem". I think you'll enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI have an awful feeling that when I tried this author before I've not finished the book for reasons I don't remember - so I'll see.
DeleteHave you ever read The Snow Child? It is a beautiful dreamlike modern fairy tale.
ReplyDeleteIt was a try and a fail a while ago now, I ought to try again as I know it won prizes
DeleteYou seem always well supplied with books. In the cold/damp of winter, reading with a nice cup of coffee or tea helps us get to Spring.
ReplyDeleteNever a proper book shortage here even when the mobile doesn't bring many there are lots to read on my shelves
DeleteSome really interesting books I haven't come across, I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on the EM Delafield if it's one you can get into.
ReplyDeletePenny
Again you remind me -- dig out the Delderfield!
