A Collection? What Collection?

Who said anything about a collection?

It started with this from Stonham Barns boot sale in  September 2017 - the best bargain of the lot

Then this from  the Hospice  charity shop in December of the same year

Followed by this tea plate from Needham-Market boot sale a year later

These were a gift  for Christmas 2018

and in May 2019 I found this, again at Needham Market Boot sale

And guess what - another bit - or actually 2 bits were in the glass display cabinet of the charity shop on Saturday, these were the most expensive of the lot, and I don't know what came over me!

This had better be the end of my NOT a collection!

Back Tomorrow

  1. Ha Sue...you’re hooked...the large plate is from the chip and dip set...mine also no longer has its dip bowl thanks to a four legged friend...you have a long way to catch up with my collection of the holly and ivy! x

  5. Years ago I can remember buying a beautiful Christmas plate from York Christmas market. It was from a second hand vintage stall and I fell in love with it.Within about 10 mins of buying it,I had dropped my bags at my Husbands feet to dash to the public toilets...and broke it!.I was gutted.Yours are beautiful!!,xx

  9. I've got a couple of bits too Sue - the gravy jug and the (boxed) comport/cake stand, plus a long roulade-shaped plate. Car boot bargains of course!

I am now having to take a long hard look at my collection (I admit it!) of jugs on the beams and wondering how hard to prune it as no beams at our next house (though there is a thin bit of wood across the kitchen which I "could" adapt . . . though we were thinking of hanging a string of Herefordshire Hops across it instead .. .)

  10. Quality always wins and Portmeirion oozes quality. Getting it bit by bit when you see it isn't too bad or too expensive either. Enjoy.

  13. Oh it won't be the end, before you know it an teeny weeny egg cup will appear and then a side plate, a gorgeously shaped mug and it will go on and on. But it's beautiful so your 'not a collection' is a very good little collection really :-)

My collection looking at what I've just moved with appears to be food and bedding ... I'm swamped!!

  15. A very nice design. I used to collect Eternal Beau crockery. I kept it in the cupboard while I used all kinds of odd plates and bowls. Now the posh stuff is in daily use.

    1. It's meant to be used and loved. Face it, if we aren't good enough for our best, who is?

  16. Lovely choices. It need not be called a collection just an updating of your dinner service.

  17. It's all beautiful! If it makes you happy then it is worth it. And it's fun to add to something like that when you just happen to run across a piece.
