A Little Bit Further From Home

My Small Suffolk World (which will be the title of my biography if ever I write one) has been even smaller since March - like most other people.............. Shopping in Stowmarket or Diss, swimming, visiting family and one trip to Ipswich and that's it.

In the Ogham Tree Alphabet book the "tree" listed for the 12th Lunar Month isn't a tree or a bush or anything that I could find growing anywhere in November - it needed an adventure to track it down.

So I adventured to somewhere I knew I could find this mysterious thing. It wasn't a very long journey - only 25 or so miles but it took me to somewhere with all sorts of pretty things and included something that felt almost normal.

Coffee and cheese scone - almost normal except for the mask! I love it when you get enough butter to spread it thick!

The pretty things I found looked like this.........Advent calendar Christmas cards bet you can guess who those will be given to and a magic snow-globe card which intrigued me. I could have spent a small fortune here but didn't!

Plus the thing I went there specifically for,  which will be revealed at a later date................

Back Tomorrow
Sue

(This trip out was last week and not yesterday when the weather was just awful all day - I went nowhere)

  1. Very intriguing - and yes, it was horrible yesterday, wasn't it?

    1. Very depressing weather yesterday. Didn't even unlock the back door and venture to the bin until afternoon!

  3. Ooh I love a mystery and I just love butter especially thick on a cheese scone. Sounded like a lovely trip out Sue, something to treat yourself to a little more often?

  4. A good cheese scone with a generous serving of butter and a black coffee - the perfect choice here too.

  6. I can imagine the GC will love the advent calendar and that was a nice little trip. I think the weather was bad everywhere yesterday. My Carol brought my shopping and stayed with me for the afternoon she did some sewing on my machine it was good to have a long chat together.
I must say I love a scone and butter when I go out.

    1. It really was a bad day weather wise yesterday. Today started sunny but now clouding over

  7. A cheese scone. I must look for a recipe. It must not feel as guilty to eat a savory scone or at least I wouldn't.

  9. What a nice day out! It is so rare that I go out these days that I almost feel like I had a day out. I love those cards. You've got me curious about the tree that isn't a tree!

    1. The magic snow globe card is so clever, it all un-folds to give the effect of a globe with picture inside

  10. I actually ventured into town after the hairdresser this morning to buy a birthday card for a friend - the first time I have been into the town centre since April. Nothing had changed.

    1. It's good nothing has changed in your town. There are many empty shops even in Stowmarket which was looking OK but with Peacocks clothing shutting and some charity shops things are not looking so good

  12. I love that you went off on an adventure to find next month's 'tree'. Now I can't wait to find out what it is!! Scones, like crumpets, are just tasty carriers of good butter aren't they.

And advent calendar Christmas cards sound like a wonderful idea, I need to get some of those for the kids and big kids in the family.

    1. The advent cards are a good idea as I don't do chocolate ones - being a meanie!

  13. I'm glad you got to drive somewhere and have a good time. I get tired of remembering my face shield or mask. Arg! Can't wait for that to end. Covid is a virus like other ones. More people survive it than die. Seriously.
Its been getting cold here in Oregon. Went in walk last eve with warm coat, gloves and stocking cap. Phil puts his hands in pockets instead of wearing gloves. I need to plant my bulbs soon as its supposed to freeze this weekend. Take care and God bless you daily. ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŽƒ

    1. Our part of the country is one of the safest to live and work and it feels really silly wearing a mask sometimes.

  15. A warmed cheese scone slathered with butter and a cup of coffee is one of my all time favourite snacks in a cafe. The bigger the better! Arilx
