On the 12th and Last Day of Christmas

On the 12th day after Christmas

My Christmas treat will be................

Oh dear another book

3 Chocolate Melts
Yet Another book
A Pack of paints
4 Steaming puds
Some Salted Cashews
The Radio Times
Choca Mocha Coffee
A New Craft to try
Chocolate Liquers
A Paperback book
And a Big Tub of Chocolates just for me.

The last day of interesting new things. One each day since Christmas Day (NOT the whole list everyday as someone thought!)

"Limit the number of people you come into contact with" is the main piece of advice for avoiding picking up the virus. I was thinking how easy it is to isolate when you live alone and don't go to work and how glad I am that my hobbies are mostly things done at home.

One such hobby is doing the puzzle pages of the East Anglian Daily Times. (My sister passed lots onto me a few weeks ago and will save more for me) There are  3 crosswords that I can't do, and a couple of weird things I don't bother with, but also a word spiral puzzle where each word starts with the last letter of the last word, an Arrow-word puzzle and a word wheel where you have to make words always using the centre letter. But my favourites are the Battleships, The 3 Sudokus (Hard Medium and Easy) and the Codeword. And because my sister is so organised she always gives me the papers all in order so when I do the codeword  I can check I've worked out the right letter for the right number......I don't cheat...honestly.

How about this to cheer a Very Wet January day when the only thing to do is to stay at home. It's one of the hot chocolate melts treats, the mini marshmallows float to the top as the chocolate ball melts and I topped it all with squirty cream. It was very good.

 Back Tomorrow

Sue

  1. At a quick glance I thought that was a mug of baked beans with a dollop of mashed potato on top! Should wear my glasses....

(Oh, and predictive text changed 'baked' to 'naked' 😯)

    2. I thought, baked beans with squirty cream. It might be one of those combinations that's better than it sounds...

    3. Oh Yuck - it was MUCH better than beans!

  3. I also need a little more chocolate in these times ... a consolation is the wonderful nature that shows itself in the most beautiful winter, with a little snow - not too much - and it is wonderful to walk through the forest. Have a happy new year Many greetings to you.
I toast you with a cup of cocoa. Viola

  4. Every since we've been getting our food delivered I've kept a can of squirty cream and a jar of jam. Every week I order a bag of scones.

    1. Home made scones are nicer. I thought my fail safe recipe was on the separate recipe page but it isn't so I'll make some and share the recipe and photo

  5. I'll be interested to know if you think the chocolate bombs are good value for money. The one's I've seen work out at about a fiver each.
I have one friend who travels 20 miles by bus and taps at my door unexpectedly three times since Welsh lockdown, expecting to be asked in. I have asked her to stop but she persists. Until we all minimise contact we will never get things under control.

  6. All through the summer, my daughter saved the weekend puzzle section from the paper and passed it on to me. Bliss!

    1. The East Anglian has a page everyday - same as the Eastern daily Press in Norfolk and even more at the weekend.

  9. Aww ... my last day to sing your little 12 Days of Christmas song. You chose some brilliant items and the person that thought you were adding all of them to your supplies every day made me laugh ... imagine what a glorious cupboard full that would be!!

I cannot do Sudoku puzzles at all, even saying it gets me confused, give me the Radio Times Only Connect puzzle and crossword any time.

    1. I'm sure you could do them. The easy Sudokus are very simple. About 10 years ago I explained to my BiL how to do them and he soon worked it out and can do the 3 in the East Anglian now - even the hard one.

  15. I've enjoyed your 12 days of Christmas and the final day is perfect with a Persephone book! I love the puzzles as well. My kids gave me a stack of puzzle magazines for Christmas that should keep me busy well into the new year.
