December 3rd

It's been a bit gloomy in Suffolk this week, lots of cloud and damp in the air, which often turned into rain.
It was the last of the organised exercise/wellbeing 6 week course but the exercise and social bit is going to carry on for another 12 weeks with another Community Interest Company running it. I'm not bothered about the mindfulness or the coffee but the organised exercise is really useful as I'm more likely to keep doing the half hour if someone is telling me what to do!

Up until a few weeks ago I was using my camera with no problems. It's a good camera that the family got for me for my 60th and has been taken everywhere and used a lot in the last 7 years. Then it started being a bit temperamental and gave up last week. I've got a camera on the phone but as it was a cheap phone it's not as good as some. Better start saving up.

Many people don't send real Christmas cards anymore but I like sending and receiving so will carry on as long as I'm able.
These were made up from some 3D decoupage sheets that I'd discovered among my Christmas stuff at the end of 2021, they must have come from a car-boot or charity shop but I couldn't remember getting them. I put them together last January

My camera was working fine last January!

then on a rainy day last month I stuck  on  "Happy Christmas" labels and got  all the other cards out of the Christmas drawer.
All are now written and envelopes addressed. Just need to do notes or letters to go with some of them........usually I start out with good intentions and end up rushing to finish..... I'm now really bad at letter writing and  blame the blog as it's so much easier to tap a blog post than it is to write a proper note!
Really must make an effort this weekend, with postmen threatening to strike again this month they need posting earlier than usual.

Back Tomorrow
Sue

  2. I remember a few years back you telling us that you'd got a bag full of card making papers etc at a car boot sale for £5, they could have come from there.

I also like sending and receiving cards and every year it's a mad panic to get them made, written and sent and it never happens, but this year I have managed it and they were posted yesterday. Making a few every month breaks the back of what should be enjoyable, but soon becomes an arduous chore..

    1. You have a better memory than me! I looked through the 'car boot bargain' posts and couldn't find a picture anywhere.

    2. I remember at the time I was just starting out making my own cards and i was a bit envious. Maybe it was a charity shop, but feel it was a car boot sale. Yes I do have a good memory, thank heavens.

  3. I don't exchange cards much any more, just a few to significant people now. I used to make my own, and I've outlived the people I sent to. Also most of my current friends don't celebrate Christmas! So it's pretty much decided for me.

  4. I think more people than ever will stop sending cards this year - cost of posting probably the main factor. Shame really, like you I enjoy the little ritual of making, writing and sending Christmas cards and receiving cards through December is always cheering.......

  5. I've made a start on mine too and posted a wodge of them this morning. Heaven knows how long they will take to arrive though. We've had hardly any post all week. The last few cards now need letters to go in them and, like you, Sue, I find it a bit of a chore now.

  6. I've got my cards but haven't started working on them yet. I'm busy with the Christmas ABC book I'm making for the youngest grandkids. I use Christmas cards I had received in the past that I have saved for this. I think it will be cute!

  7. I've got my cards ready except for a photo I want to insert. Waiting for those to arrive from Shutterfly then I'll be ready to write the notes and send them off.

  8. With so many days of postal strikes and the price of stamps climbing I’m sending fewer this year.
Oversea relatives will get a nice newsy email instead.
Elderly friends who like to receive a proper card will still get one. x

  9. The Royal Mail seems to be working okay between England and the USA. I received a letter from England 12/2 and it was mailed in London 11/23. Not bad. Our trains were planning to strike; yet Biden has intervened and there will be no strike. Let's see who decides to strike next! Strikes seem popular lately. Your cards are beautiful. Happy Christmas.

  10. Your cards are really lovely. Someone once said to me that you can’t always send flowers, but you can send a card, and that’s a little gift in itself. I love cards and will continue to send them . Thankfully my cards and all those with letters enclosed are done. Half are posted the remainder go on Monday. Letter writing is still part of my week. 11. I too love cards, but was actually told/ asked not to bother to send to some old friends anymore..along the lines of "I don t send cards and getting your card just makes me feel bad and guilty"! Well. OK then. I am undecided, I really enjoy the choosing, writing notes, etc ritual. The stamps would cost about 15.oo. I even love the annual visit to the PO for this year's choice of holiday stamps..

  12. Well done on the card making. They look lovely. I really enjoying doing the decoupage ones. It's good that you found the pieces at a boot sale.

Sister said it had been quite gloomy and she got caught in the rain on Wednesday when she was walking with other sister. I complained of how cold it had been lol.

    Have a great weekend.

  13. This is the first time in a long time that I've actually had the time to sit down and properly do Christmas cards. They are nice to receive.
